Since when is Khan some defensive wizard? Even Floyd, Pernell and Benitez took shots and they are masters. Maidana would get to him, and would knock him out. Why else would GBP not want to make it? Khan has never ever proven he can take a punch off even a decent puncher.

spot on...the title is just a joke if he doesn't defend it against his mandatory...theres really no excuse to not fight Maidana at this point....unless Khans chicken!:think

You dont have to be Willie Pep to stay out of Maidana's range.

You just have to not be Ortiz.

I'd take an Ortiz fight for Khan. A good challenge for the boy.

Better that than a fight v Marquez or Casamayor.

So you're saying, in 12 rounds, Khan isn't going to take one power shot off Maidana? That's all it takes, one.

    So many haters.

When Ortiz was mentioned before the Maidana fight, they said Ortiz would be suicide for Khan, now after the Maidana defeat, he has most definetly become a better fighter.

He can Box, which Maidana can't do.
He's got more power than Bradley and Alexander.

    Khan is gonna face

    Maidana
    Ortiz
    JMM

And it's amazing because 12 months ago, you would be laughing your ****ing heads off at this ****.

I think Ortiz isa good step up for Khan, a legitimate fight, against a guy that isn't flat out hard for him to beat but definitely has the tools to give him a serious challenge.

Will it suddenly justify the hype?

Will it change Khan into something other than a tosser?

Will it 'prove' his ATG ability?

No to all the above. The kind of fight he should be taking though, if he wants to prove he's the goods.

I really can't see this fight happening; GBP's two young cash cows going against each other? Sure the winner will be bigger than ever, but I'd be surprised if they went for this now.

Good fight if it does happen though

i think everybody just wants to see him fight a decent fighter and ortiz falls under that. wouldn't say he a world beater but has good skill and power, this makes the fight interesting

I don't mind Ortiz to be honest. I would prefer he fought his mandatory but Ortiz is a good step up. I don't think he will fight Ortiz though.

Obviously Maidana has a punchers chance, but so do the rest of the division. Why does Maidana get the nod ahead of anyone else?

I've made this point a few times now so i dont want to seem like I'm going on about it, but this whole idea that Maidana is some kind of monster that is Khan's kryptonite is entirely inaccurate. Maidana is a very limited boxer that can bang. There are loads of them knocking about. I'd rather see Khan fight someone with skills that can bang, like Urango, or someone with good skills and a decent punch like Ortiz.

Khan would walk his way to a UD over Maidana if it got that far. There isnt a doubt in my mind.

Maidana certainly did better against Kotelnik than Alexander did. But he's not young, black and American so obviously he's utter shite....

What's the problem with this? Ortiz is powerful too, and faster than Maidana and overall more skilled.

Khan's best fight in a while if it comes off.

I havent seen the Alexander v Kotelnik fight so I cant compare the two.

I've only seen Maidana fights on youtube since his name starting getting bandied about as this great threat to Khan and since he beat Ortiz, which was probably what led to his name getting mentioned. I had to make sure I was watching the right guy about nine times as I saw nothing in his locker (obviously other than a dig) which Khan would have to worry about.

I'm stopping, right now, talking about this as I feel like i'm hating on Maidana, which I'm not. Good luck to the lad, and if it's a mandatory then it should be made. I just dont see why there's such a clamour for it.
