If Texas dont take the fight go straight to Brewer in Arizona (who btw is actually supported by "legal" LatinAmericans). Her Investigating Margarito's claims and letting him fight could be a great start for both. Then invite CUMBIA bands all the way from El Norte to Colombia. The sad thing is, even if Texas do reject his license, the fight will still go ahead in Mexico or somewhere else. Nothing will stop Arum from making this fight happen.
Will Pacquiao go ahead with this bout if it is in Mexico? I've heard the bout isn't signed yet, and Pacquaio has said to Mayweather the bout can still happen in November if he agrees. If only Mayweather would step up...
One thing i don't understand is one of the main points the CSAC made was that they wanted to set a precedent for the future and deter other fighters from following the path Margarito may have taken, ie illegal inserts. But surely Athletic commisions should be doing all they can in light of this to ensure a fighters hands arent wrapped illegaly any more in future, and thus no other boxer should be able to illegally wrap them without the greatest of scrutiny? Instead of tightening up the hand-wrapping procedures, they would rather banish Margarito from the sport to try and make sure other fighters don't illegally wrap in future. In my opinion they sent out the right message, but the wrong way.
To be honest, I think Margarito must have seen the illegal wraps...he even said, if I remember rightly, that the wraps felt different compared to his normal wraps. BUT, he has served his year out from the sport...they need to tell him whether he can box again or not...they need to provide him with a date of when he has the best chance at fighting in America again. I get the whole setting an example and this will stop boxers from attempting to cheat in a similar way in the future. But, I don't agree with just one boxer being set as the example...I guarantee you that if someone is caught using similar wraps, or attempting to use similar wraps in the future...the "sentence" will be a lot leaner. This is the first time I have kinda defended Margarito...and I'm not really defending him either...but they need to tell him whether he will be allowed to legally box in America again.
I agree there. It seems almost as if there banning him indefinately without actually saying they are banning him indefinately.
Yep...I would rather they come out and say, 'We are not allowing you to legally box in America again'...and to be honest...I wouldn't feel that was harsh (unless he came out and admitted he at least suspected the wraps), but thats just my opinion. A boxer in the future will be caught attempting to use similar wraps, and like I said, said boxer will be given a years suspension and will be allowed back in the ring again soon after.
Hopefully texas will tell margo to **** off. Then pac will have no choice but to fight outside the US. He can take the pinoys with him.
Maybe there is a way for Margo to request a catch-state license. A license to fight in between two borderlines. Oh no, I forgot, that's something Pac would do.
I still don't think the wraps would have changed the outcome of any fights. Last time I checked, your knuckles aren't soft.
