Toney has been in the division for 7 years and only lost to one man in Sam Peter whom he cleanly beat the first time, yet the Klits were never really willing to face James Toney. On top of that, Toney is an ATG.

Toney always expressed his desire to face the Klits. Nobody can reasonable argue that Toney has been a man willing to take on all corners. He just proved again that no fear is in him by competing against a top man in a MMA contest.

Finally, the Klits have faced several types of oppoenets during their reign. They faced all types of opponents: european class boxers like Williams and Sosnowski, young like Johnson, and even older name guys like Briggs.Over time, it has become clear that they just don't want to fight Toney and therefore deserve to be criticised.

    True

It’s weird that those fights never happened, even when Toney and Klitchkos were top-15 fighters of the division from 2003 to 2010

Maybe Toney should have fought to become a mandatory, and you know that they (especially Wlad) fight Mandatories.

Maybe if Toney actually beat somebody instead of milking the fact that he's the IBA heavyweight champ, then maybe it would have happened

His heavyweight record is 6 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw, 2 no contests, 2 positive tests for steroids, and 1 year long (reduced to 6 months) ban from boxing.

Why would they have fought him?

If he'd beaten Peter I could've definitely seen it.

Apart from that though, he was either actually fighting for the title or hoping for a voluntary selection.

He never put the actual pressure on he could've, by beating the right opponents. He talked it up well but didn't actually get the wins that mattered.

I don't think the Klitschkos deserve blame here, it lets Toney off the hook too much.

Fight to become mandatory, just as easy as that.

....but besides, does anyone here REALLY gives Toney more than a snowballs chance in hell to beat either Klitschko? Honestly?

Toney is seen as a joke in the division, a doped up steroid using mouth basically, probably just ignored by most and why would they pay attention to him? He has lost any fights of note in the division

Didn't Toney lose to Peter and then Wlad had to fight Peter in the IBF mandatory?

    No.

Toney was WBC mandatory but he put it voluntarily on the line against Peter, instead of just sitting around and waiting Maskaev and Rahman to fight.

Then he outboxed Peter but was screwed out of the mandatory position by blind judges
