90% of this forum was all over Danny Jacobs just like they are Lara, and they are wrong in both cases. Right now Lara would not last 8 rounds with Cotto. It's a foolish idea.
right now he wouldnt beat cotto that much i can agree on, but to say lara is like jacobs is beyond ridiculous. honestly, what do you see in lara that makes you even think of a resemblence with jacobs?? lara has more defensive skills in his pinky finger then jacobs will ever have in his entire body. plus he can do something which was the downfall of jacobs, JAB. add that to the fact that jacobs is a patient counter puncher from a southpaw stance. i just dont see how the two resemble eachother, accept the fact that they're both black????:huh
I am so sick and tired of hearing people say that Cubans beat up on young kids in the Olympics. Here, I am posting a list with proof of " YOUNG CUBANS " still winning Gold at the Olympics and World Amateur Championships in their 17's, 18's, 19's, 20's, and 21 years old, ready??? Juan Carlos Gomez: Gold Medal, World Junior Championships ( age 17 ) Joel Casamayor: Gold medal, World Junior Championships ( age 18 ) Felix Savon: Gold medal, 1987 PanAm games ( age 20 ) Ariel Hernandez: Gold medal, World junior Championships ( age 17 ) Emilio Correa: Gold medal, PanAm games ( age 18 ) Rolando Garbey: Gold medal, PanAm games ( age 20 ) Adolfo Horta: Gold medal, World Championships ( age 20 ) Angel Herrera: Gold medal, Olympics ( age 19 ) Jose Gomez: Gold medal, Olympics ( age 21 ) Roberto Balado: Gold medal, World Championships ( age 20 ) Hector Vinent: Gold medal, World Championships ( age 18 ) Ramon Garbey: Gold medal, PanAm games ( age 20 ) Mario Kindelan: Gold medal, PanAm games ( age 21 ) Guillermo Rigondeaux: Gold medal, Olympics ( age 20 ) Diogenes Luna: Gold medal, PanAm games ( age 21 ) Odlanier Solis: Gold medal, PanAm games ( age 19 ) Yordenis Ugas: Gold medal, World Championships ( age 19 ) Roniel Iglesias: Gold medal, World Championships ( age 18 ) Want more proof ??? :yep
I wasn't talking about styles. Jacobs was an over hyped prospect with a dodgy chin. So is Lara. The first time Jacobs stepped in the ring with a live opponent he got knocked out. So will Lara if he steps up anytime soon. His best win was a completely shot Grady Brewer, and it took him 10 rounds to get rid of Brewer. He does not impress me at all.
Lara has the talent but who knows right now.. lets not forget he's 28yrs old already so he's not a kid either.. :hat
dude, review your post from the time Lara fought Brewer.. who was as u said- the big spoiler of all prospects and underrated. Now all of the the sudden he was a shot brewer?:-(
first of all, what fight have you see where lara gets hurt or better yet tested?? second, if thats the only reason why you see lara as a similarity to jacobs, then what is your opinion of 90% of the touted prospects today?? since the only reason you see him as a resemblence to jacobs is because of the hype surrounded by him? you're not making much sense boo, and going by what others are saying you seem to thought at the time brewer was gonna spoil lara's run, and now you're going back on it? buddy just stick to backing up kelly pavlik.
And they won 250 Olympic gold medals with guys who were 30 years old and had 400 fights vs. teenagers. Fighting hardened grown men is different than fighting green amateurs. BTW, Cuban fighters are great due to tradition, schooling and ability. Just like Philly fighters.
Casamayor was a bad ass amateur, and a great pro. He gets into the H.O.F. on his amateur days alone. Very underrated. Teo Stevenson was the Cuban Larry Holmes.
