I Agree with you, there are some boxers who are more suited for MMA like DAVID TUA, a young MIKE TYSON ETC. Not James Toney who's a BLOWN UP, FAT SLOPPY should be 185 pounder, with NO LEGS, or SPEED in his legs. Even Shannon Briggs would be more suited for MMA because he has the strength to wrestle with those guys.
He still looks like he is training heavy. He has lost alot of weight but that athletic look is not there. The bounce in his feet etc
i think at this level, toney would still be easily caught w/ an armbar or an omaplata once randy gets a full mount (w/c is very doable IMO)... ...i can see couture catching him with a RNC choke too though after a scramble :good
On the ground James is i real trouble! I know that and I'm sure he knows it. But anyting on the feet is James world...especially up close and in the clinch or against the cage....if it's on the feet, up close and personal James is a mother ****in problem and will **** Randy's world all up. And I actually see Randy, being the warrior he is, the compeitor he is will actually try this. And That's when Randy will take him to the ground and the tides will shift. But on the feet Randy is going to be taking a huge risk if he does try to beat JT at his own game. he could get slept before he gets chance take James to the ground.
An omaplata from the mount? What? And an RNC choke...The "C" stands for "choke", you don't need the additional word at the end, Rear Naked Choke Choke.
what i mean is that at toney's level as of now, from a mount position, and even if randy isn't known as a great submission artist, he can pretty much have easy transition to positions to get those kind of subs... ...and my bad about the rnc, i was just a typo coz i was already very sleepy last night when i typed that.
this is what i am thinking....toney will give up his back after getting elbows smashing down on him and then its over, imo
The thing you people do not realize is that there is no quit in Toney. The man has been in 20 years of boxing, has never quit or KOD. He has been hit hard by huge punchers, you guys have no idea you you are talking about.
I do not see this fight getting out of the first round. For Toney to win he needs to do it fast. Toney also needs to stay light on his feet, and look to land the jab and use footwork to avoid the takedown. Couture is naturally bigger, and sprawling should be his last line of defense for the takedown. Toney also needs to avoid the clinch. If Toney can get Couture to respect his jab, and bite at a feint, he can drop that right hand to set up a stoppage. All Couture has to do is close the distance. If he gets control of one of Toney's arms, the fight is all but over. Couture will have Toney down in no time. Look for Couture to start grounding and pounding. Toney will probably give up his back to avoid the punches, and Randy will end the fight with a choke. Neither fighter can make a big mistake in this fight and expect to win, but Toney has to be near flawless to have a chance.
I disagree. Couture's only shot is on the floor. I do not see Toney being at a disadvantage if the fight is in the air. Toney is used to clinches, he will break you down on the inside with those short hooks as long as the fight is not on the floor.
