in a boxing match after his match with james toney in the ufc to show the status of each others sport but i don't believe couture would go for that

Who would his opponent be? Either way Couture gets KTFO!

Only Toney is crazy enough to go to another mans field and challenge him, where he has NONE of the advantages.

What's the point of this? Couture isn't running around saying he would beat Toney in a boxing match. He said himself he needs to get their match on the ground early or he will get sparked.

Goosen needs to chill and let nature take its course.

Couture would get killed in a boxing ring especially at that age. This isn't human chicken fighting where he can hug on the ground till rounds are over. He needs his legs strong enough to be standing all the way and there's no way he will do good in a boxing match, not even a 4 rounder.

The point would be money. Goosen could probably offer much more than the current offer and Couture could make an all time highest payday. Of course the fight would be as pointless as the Toney MMA fight but since when has that stopped a fight from happening?

If he beats Toney in an MMA fight then it makes sense to offer him more but if not I don't think any will care about him boxing.

Goosen is just trying to posture as he knows Toney will be beaten by Couture and he is trying to salvage something by spinning it with this stupid offer. Couture has not been chasing any boxing promoter begging for a fight as has Toney been after Dana White.
Randy submits Toney early and then whole thing will just go away.

They could offer him more even. That would be a perfect way to put together a Goosen PPV card. Have the Couture-Toney rematch (in the square instead of the octagon) as the main undercard to a Williams-Martinez rematch. Considering how good Williams-Martinez I was, and how I suspect a lot of MMA fans would buy the fight, you might actually make some new boxing fans.

I bet they'd get a fair number of buys for a card that looked something like this (and that HBO might even pick it up as a PPV):

    Williams-Martinez II
    Couture-Toney II
Shumenov-Campillo III (it needs to happen anyway, and it's not like they would make big money for it otherwise)
Marcus Johnson vs. Edison Miranda (another DiBella vs. Goosen fight)

Top to bottom, that would be one of the better PPV cards in a while, even if it doesn't have huge star power.

I'm pulling for Toney as a boxing fan, but what makes Couture a clown? He is a sensible guy, fairly modest/doesn't make outlandish claims about being able to step into another sport and dominate, he just does what he is good at. Why the hate?

Why is Couture a clown? Its not like he went chasing Tony. Tony was the one begging Dana and Randy for the fight.

Ya think he's worried Tony is gonna get submitted? Couture is not a clown, have some respect sheesh.
