I don't think that's exactly true. I liked Roy from the beginning because he was sort of a lovable redneck, a good ole boy done well thanks to virtuoso talent.

Mayweather is more an embodiment of hip hop culture because the only thing he'll talk about his money. Money this, money that, Roy at least has other interests.

There are similarities, but Jones did not go as far out of his way to alienate folks the way Floyd does.

I think there are many differences between Floyd and Jones, particularly with their character and attitude, but I still believe they generally appeal to the same audience. Jones is very vocal about his love for hip hop, and has even released a few albums of his own. It's that same hip-hop crowd that tune in to watch Floyd "whoop some AZZ" on a Saturday night, whereas everyone else are tuning in to see his ass get whooped.
