That's your opinion, but mine is different. The amateurs are also very hard and difficult and any fighter who succeeds there is as equally as impressive as being a pro World Champion. :good
That's funny! Chavez jr ??? :-( The guy did'nt even box amateur, how in the World will he beat a highly successful guy with 300+ amateur bouts Internationally? :huh Everyone is entitled to one's opinion, but with time Lara will prove you wrong! :good
Yeah Jr, has been fighting tomatoe cans to try and make up for the lack of Amateur experience. Even this "Wild Card" version of him dosen't have enough to beat Lara, maybe a past prime Cotto at 154, but not Lara.
The pro game is different, and Lara isn't a seasoned pro yet. It isn't that I don't believe he can develop into a stud, it's just that we've had reason to become skeptical of amateur stars making the transition until they do fully develop and prove themselves (look at Solis - shouldn't he be Undisputed HW champ by now?). Chavez wasn't really a seasoned pro either until recently (despite his vast experience, most of which was useless). It was only Duddy that he had to deal with in his last outing but he did look much improved, and the adversity in several of his recent bouts has provided learning experiences. Nothing Lara has shown thus far indicates that he is yet adapted to the pro game to the point where he's on that level, let alone Cotto's.
I think he will give a good account of himself against Cotto, and will kill Chavez Jr. Lara has show improvement in each and every fight, when he will b ready to fight d elite? I think he is very close to that level.
You have some good points but keep in mind that the good amateurs that have'nt been able to make the good transition to the pros are only very few. Most of them, make it and make it big. All former Cuban amateur prospects at the moment are adapting very well at the pros, only Yan Barthelemy failed but it was'nt because of his technique, it was because of his lack of chin and punching power... Odlanier Solis has all the tools, talent, amateur experience and technique to be World Heavyweight Champion and beat everybody. His problem is lack of dedication ( or overeating ), it has'nt been not making the transition from amateur to pro. :good
Did you see his fight with Grady Brewer? We hardly saw enough of a fight, let alone evidence to suggest he could do anything like that yet.
I don't know what you r talking about, lara gave Brewer a boxing lesson and knock him out in the last round, while tooking some hard shot from Mr. B, considering how many prospects Brewer has sent to d showers I was very impress with Lara's display of technic, accuracy, defense, chin and finally some power in the last round which is not easy to mantain.
I like lara, but it might be a bit early to fight cotto. Cotto isn't the same fighter anymore, but he still a great fighter. I think lara would give him some problems & maybe stun him once or twice, but i think cotto would win. Would be a good fight.
One way or another it will b a great experience for Lara, but I'll like to c them go at it by d end of next year, after 4 or 5 fights more.
