I was willing to pay to watch Mora get his ass kicked, but Forrest already did that for me. Now that it's out of my system I don't need it anymore.
I don't know if that's strictly true. Vernon looked shot in their first fight and had performed questionably in pretty much all of his fights after Mayorga II. The second fight was like Christmas to me, though, and at the very least we got to see him go out on top. I'll be shocked if Mosley doesn't walk all over him, but I said that prior to Forrest v Mora I.
To me, it's a case of Forrest simply running into one of the speedbumps that older boxers sometimes hit; showing his age and appearing vulnerable when not properly motivated, but then proving that with a commitment in camp and the right attitude that he still had enough to show the gulf in class between himself and someone like Mora. Mosley almost had the same type of "wake-up call" loss to Mayorga (instead it was a wake-up call skin-of-his-teeth win) before looking spectacular against Margarito. The current Mosley has tailed off since then. Forrest of Mora II = Mosley of Margarito > Mosley of Mayweather I don't think he was shot at the time of his death (absolutely no pun intended; please no jokes). The only person in his division I'd have favored over him would have been Martinez had that come together as it was supposed to.
Either they'll find the worst replacement HBO is willing to accept, or they'll postpone until December when Marquez's hand is better. Either way, he's definitely not facing Caballero. In fact, what I said (about needing a full training camp for Caballero) was Arum's excuse for replacing Elio Rojas with Salido for the Gamboa fight.
Now that you mention it, and I'm not sure that it's their ages, but both Mosley and Forrest had motivation and/or focus issues following their fights with each other. Forrest looked awful after Mayorga and Mosley looked awful after Winky. That first Vargas fight with Mosley was just embarrassing. Did Forrest have more at this time? I don't know. Forrest was ****ing awesome when he had it together, but he had serious difficulty following a gameplan. When he did though, you're right - he was righteous.
IF they somehow managed to pull off Lopez-Cab fight (which I highly doubt) then I might change my mind.
The chorus of this early-90s hip-hop track best describes my feelings on paying any more than $5 for this card: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWIo0odZ2SI[/ame]
Thattaboy! :happy Come on, let's all clap our hands and click our heels together for this. Worst case scenario, a fairy gets its wings and we wake up in Kansas.
**** no. GBP needs to be taught the lesson between a so-so main event with a stacked undercard, versus a so-so main event with a so-so undercard. I happily plunked down the scratch for Marquez/Diaz II, but won't even consider this shitshow.
