I'm not part of the wangsta group you describe, but I was a big fan of both Roy and Floyd. For me, the appeal of those guys was that they were freaks of nature. Insane reflexes and hand speed. Watching them fight was like watching some nature program where a mongoose tears a cobra apart. Considering how awful my own reflexes and hand speed are made me appreciate their gifts even more.

People throw the word RACE around alot, but I think the word is demographics. There is a certain demographic that loves the whole lifestyle flashy hip-hop culture and although alot of blacks are part of that demographic, there are also other races that are as well.

An elite guy who plays into that demographic will gather those fans the same way a guy from Philadelphia will gather fans from Philadelphia.

Either way, its normal to cheer on people who have similar traits to you.

But bottom line, that doesn't change the fact that Pacquiao is the best boxer of his generation hands down. Demographics can't change that.
