"One thing that he hasn't demonstrated is that he can compete as a welterweight. He certainly didn't demonstrate that in the fight with Floyd Mayweather. Before he starts talking about fighting Manny Pacquiao at this higher weight, let him fight a legitimate welterweight..Let him fight Andre Berto, who is looking for a fight. Let him fight Joshua Clottey, who I promote and who I can get for him to fight. Let him fight a legitimate welterweight. Once he fights a legitimate welterweight, and succeeds, then, don't you think that we would love to put him in against Manny Pacquiao?"

I agree with Arum here. Marquez has not proven he can fight at WW. It's a no win scenario for Pac. The funny thing is though, fans would probably kill Berto if he actually did fight Marquez. Meanwhile, many of them seem to be calling for Pac to fight Marquez(a fight that would take place at WW). These same fans would also almost uninaimously pick Pacquiao over Berto. Go figure.

I thought Pacquiao was a blown up JWW that was fighting above his natural weight at 147?:huh

Why would the fight be at welterweight?

Probably because he can't make 140 anymore without draining himself.

It's funny how they use Floyd as an example that Marquez hasnt prove to be a good WW. But then again Shane the WW number 1 guy got school by Floyd for almost the whole fight as well. So is it fair? Marquez did fight a much bigger Floyd with no special demands unlike Manny since he's been a WW. Why doesn't Manny face Berto with no special demands if the Margarito fight falls?

If Pac fights Marquez, its more like he's indirectly fighting Mayweather than Marquez. The only question will be "can Pac beat Marquez at 147 worse than Mayweather did"

Actually, that's false. Marquez fought Floyd with the demand of a catchweight. Its pointless to just say any bull**** to make Pac look bad, people know that fight was supposed to be at a catchweight. Floyd decided to pay the penalty cause he couldn't make 144 but that doesn't mean there was no demand.

what the ****, they have fought each other two times already, what is arum waiting for.

does he want marquez to gt even older then he already is before they fight again.

marquez doesnt need to prove anything he is a wicked fighter and deserves the fight with pac regardless of what he weighed last fight.

Floyd was the much bigger guy: FACT

Manny has fought DLH, Cotto, and now Margarito with demands, that not only includes WEIGHT, but ring size and etc, and even rushing dates to fight.: FACT

And why use Floyd as an example to Marquez not belonging when Shane got school as well?

you're the one who was saying that Marquez "Unlike Pacquiao" fought Floyd with no special demands. But the FACT is that Marquez demanded a special catchweight of 144 lbs. Just cause Floyd couldn't make 144 and paid the penalty doesn't mean that Marquez didn't make a special demand.

You guys always say **** like that, UNLIKE PACQUIAO MARQUEZ DOESN'T MAKE SPECIAL DEMANDS just to make Pac look bad, but its weird cause MArquez also asked for a catchweight the first time he fought a WW.

**** Arum, talking like Marquez has to prove anything in his career at this point. :bart

Fans will pay to see Pacquiao fight Marquez a third time, even if Marquez is well above his peak weight and well on his way to shot. It makes dollars and sense, so if Pacquiao can't land Mayweather why not make the next most lucrative business decision? :huh

Why is it logical for Pacquiao to fight him at 147 too?

Surely he would get more credit for fighting Marquez at Pacquaio's more natural weight of 140 where JMM would be more comfortable at rather than fighting him at 147 where he's already shown he can't cut it?
