Has there ever been a more destructive puncher than Terry McGovern at his weight?

What do you mean by the first sentence?

Do you mean there aren't as many destructive punchers in the lower divisions as there are, say, Welter and up?

Also, I remember hearing Austin was a real psycho. The Gerald McClellan of his division. He's serving hard time now I believe.

He was found not guilty of **** and then got in some trouble for domestic violence, but I dont think he is in jail.

 

Maybe I'm thinking of someone else, or maybe he was in jail and is now out.

He was in jail I believe.

He had a pretty respectable career but he probably lost some of his prime with his legal problems.
He was out of boxing while the **** case was going on as well.

Funny thing is, Aaron Snowell who was in the corner of Mike Tyson after the firing of Rooney, became his trainer, and did a pretty respectable job. As green as he was with Tyson he turned out to be pretty good with his work with Frankie Randall and Tim Austin.
Snowell got into boxing hanging around Tim Witherspoon in the late 70's and early 80's. He hung around the gyms and got hired by Don King to work with some of his house fighters, but he was in no way ready to handle Tyson when he got the job.

McGovern was absolutly awesome, and kudos to Janitor, he is right on the button about McGovern; he was for a period simply an amazing KO machine (September 1897 to Young CorbettII).

Erne's record is " curious" to say the least.When perusing it, kosher is not the word that springs readily to mind.
Dixon was kod by Driscoll too.
Dixon has a lot of padding on his record , check out the win loss ratios of his early victims.
I think the Gans v McGovern fight was a tank job,so now I am thinking how many others might be "arranged"?

I think so. I've always found McGovern to be a fascinating figure, but he sounds like he was really tormented in his later years.
