Does being a Roy Jones fan come with a free subscription to being PBF fan?

People who say this (an older black guy, or a white dude from Europe) are generally those in the same boat. Thse who don't understand the culture of young blacks in the US. I don't think the type of music they listen to has much to do with it. I think just the fact that they are both black and take part in a mano-a-mano sport that is driven by and even exploits race and culture has more to do with it.

You got black people like my pops and all his friends who listen to Al Green, Earth Wind and Fire, and Marvin Gaye who love Floyd and Roy Jones...:good

 

Depends on what you mean by "like". I love Jones' fighting style and like his personality, especially as he got older and more laid back. I appreciate Mayweather's fighting style and hate his personality. That's the best I can answer this question.

2. Yep. The masses are always an ignorant bunch. Some people can be active investors for forty years and still get sucked in every time the market has a bad day or month and take part in panic selling of their portfolios, etc..

I am not dismissive. I am saying that you have reached the RIGHT conclusions (they share fans) for the WRONG reasons.

I also NEVER said that they had fans SIMPLY because, in your opinion, they are arrogant in front of the camera. You leave out the baited questions and condescension of guys like Merchant and Brian Kenny that create their personas (that fans like). It has nothing (overtly) to do with being Black. HA! That's actually really true. If most old black people were white, they would be seen as being seriously racist with some of their outlandish stereotypes about young black people.

 

We're both speculating, I acknowledge you make valid points...but you don't acknowledge that Floyd and Roy appeal to certain members of the Hip Hop community...African Americans who listen to 50 Cent and wear inordinately large jeans. I couldn't put it any simpler than I have.

This is exactly what I am saying to the dude!

Certain groups like cocky and flashy fighters. Being that this style of fighting was embraced and perfected in the African American community... They share fans. Many of whom are African American.

Certain elements like tough and humble workhorse fighters. Being that this style is embraced by certain communities, fighters who use this style many time share fan bases.
