Roberto Duran appeals too blue collar society. That is why he is more lauded by the hardcore boxing fans than his contemporaries who all defeated him.

Guys, don't make me plug the video of Karceno filming Floyd getting down in the club again. I know you don't want to see that anymore than I do.

Fans of Hip Hop don't have to take Floyd and Roy seriously as artists, they just see these two black guys giving it a lot of attitude, wearing a lot of bling, plugging their promotional companies and hip hop albums, and they say to themselves, "These are two guys I can relate too. They listen to the same music I do...they represent what I represent". So they cheer for them. Am I talking about every fan of theirs, of course not. But it's a core "target" audience. At least for Floyd, who has admitted in interviews that part of his business strategy was to appeal to the "hip hop crowd". Ellerbe confirmed this...in writing...what more is there to say?

He appeals to YOUR limited ideal of blue collar society. Black Americans are decidedly blue collar. He doesn't appeal much to their ideal, but is respected.

He is in YOUR limited circles more lauded. In some places he is just the "no mas" guy who was getting the brakes beaten off of him.

A lot of things you are saying are projections. Projections of your ideal self and your belief of others.

They are not really fans of him. They just take breaks off of posting about Floyd, Pac, USADA testing, Floyd's private parts, Ellerbe, etc. So when they take these breaks, they pretend to like other boxers and since most Floyd fans are black americans, they pick a random slick black american like RJJ. But in the end, they don't give a damn about him. It's a cover. i.e Bald Head Slick. 99% percent of his posts on this forum are about testing and Floyd. It's quite sad.

We're talking about the consensus. The consensus champions Duran more than it does Leonard. Among hardcore Boxing fans. Go ask Boxers and trainers who their favorite fighter is. More often that not you hear the name Duran. Go ask people in the Classic forum, people who know that era, who their favorite fighters are. Duran will be one of them, guaranteed.

I'm only reiterating what Leonard Ellebre, Mayweather's adviser, said in writing. Irrefutable.

This is the problem with your whole argument. You have no idea what "hip hop" is. Neither does Ellerbe.

That is what YOU see. RJJ was never known for his bling. FMJ wasn't either until his WWE performance. These are all your fantasies. RJJ gave music a real shot and it is no different than White guys with a garage band. Would that mean a White boxer spoke for all "rock" music becasue he took up guitar?

I hate to break this to you, but boxing is the land of braggarts. When things fall in people's laps? When things blow up? When things go smoothly? They spin it and take credit. Ellerbe and FMJ are full of crap.

Dude Zab, Roy, Flloyd, Bernard, and James Toney all probably share a fan base. It has little to nothing to do with hip hop.

This discussion can obviously no longer serve a purpose. We're going round in circles.

You believe what you want to believe, and I'll believe what Mayweather confirmed and what common sense indicates. :good

I can't believe you guys are still going on and on about this ****. In the time between I last checked the forum and now, I took a train ride, got my broke ass to the store and got a Four Loco and determined that it tasted like nail polish. However, I will have a serious buzz in about... 3 minutes.

What consensus? You and your Internet buddies? The old White guys who hated when they had to pass the torch? The Mexicans who support their countryman as expected? Like most people of your ilk you frequent places where people look like you and agree with you.

I know you are. Irrefutable as BS. Especially since you rarely if ever hear about FMJ outside of hardcore boxing circles. Oh let me take that back, he has done WWE, Dancing With the Stars, and an AT&T High Speed Internet commercial. Straight up Hip Hop dun!

It is safe in your homogenized-thought bubble.

from everything i can gather from this thread, his circle of experience extends out a lot further than your circle of experience. you are focusing on the exceptions while he is speaking of the bulk. the majority of people, regardless of race, do in fact hold duran in high regard. but because a few small circles think he is the 'no mas' guy, you feel the majority is wrong. who is really relying on limited experience here? whos world is really the small one?

Am I supposed to fall for that?

Actually, I'm going to make a Venn diagram to illustrate my stance on this hot button issue. You assholes. You're lucky I'm broke and drunk on cheap malt liquor.

Edit: Just because I can still type doesn't mean I'm not loaded. Because I'm cool like that.

    Edit: No, I'm not making a diagram. **** this ****, I really don't care.
