Does being a Roy Jones fan come with a free subscription to being PBF fan?

Ali appealed to anyone with a pulse...except for fans of Joe Frazier and Henry Cooper. :yep

Hmm, at what times do you inconsistently tend to like Floyd?

Fair enough, I suppose. Was just funny the way you phrased it.

So you are now admitting Ellerbe is full of crap? Like I have been telling you all along. Here is how it works for you to get a Black fan base and it has NOTHING to do with music.

    (Post Ali)

-- The fighter is good with freakish talent but hungry to fight.
-- He keeps saying he wants the next guy who happens to be a media darling.
-- Media keeps trying to get him to show the guy some reverence.
-- Eventually he catches on and gets annoyed.
-- He gets the fight and beats the crap out of the guy.
-- Instead of saying, "You are who you said you were!" The media harps on BS.
-- The fighter continues to win but gets increasingly bitter
-- The fighter endears himself to the Black community due to them relating to his constant struggle.
-- "Hopes" are lined up and the fights sell out.
-- The rumble of hatred grows
-- The fighter eventually loses and the haters cheer

Nothing to do with hip hop because the Black community was never where the real money was anyway. It has more to do with a strange mix of white hatred/fear/curiosity and the ability unscrupulous men to transform it into cash. Unfortunately lately media forces have had to use a few "subs" since there is no "White hope".

This silliness doesn't exist at other weight classes because Blacks aren't dominating and everyone can be happy in their own skin. However if a great Black fighter emerges? The money men will come out in force to manipulate people like you into a hate frenzy.

That is a lie. Ali was hated by the establishment in his day.

Though I agree with you on your other points.

I hear you on that. I liked Jones in and out of the ring because he stayed in his lane. He could get a chuckle even when being an ass.

FMJ has all of the talent of guys like RJJ and Ali, but none of the quick wit. It gets a bit fake. You see what he is trying to do. He just isn't that good at it.

He appealed to everyone. Those who didn't like him tuned in regardless...he demanded universal attention. Later in his career, this all changed.

It's been proposed that Ray had supposed "eye trouble" before the Hagler bout...But, did he really, Addie? Did he really? Because he was such a fond supporter of eye protection...
