The pacquino-mayweather fight not coming off was biggest blow, and lack of unification bouts, especially at heavyweight, continue to hurt.

If pac-maywaether had fought, sport would have gotten big lift. If fight was good, and rematch was coming up, imagine how much attention and excitment that would get?

It is a fight many hope will happen, but it is not the end all of boxing. There are several fights that excite me the same. I am sure it will happen some time in 2011 and that is fine - forget about that single fight for now.

Ya -- instead of 20 new Pac/PBF threads per day, we could have 50. Oh the joy:patsch

The magnificent 7 card will have some great fights on it for starters. If you're American watch it.

The years 2008 and 2009 were fantastic, so any "normal" year is going to look pale by comparison... but I agree, this year has not been great.

I don't get why everyone keeps bitching about how Boxing is getting ****ed every year and how this year and that year is ****ed.

These type of threads only put me down more. I rather not see this bull**** than people sulk about how a certain ****ing matchup didn't happen.

**** happens. Move on for ****s sake and look ahead at the positives.

Which should really sow a fertile ground to bring enough kids back into boxing. If this economic depression is here to stay I see a lot more talent move into boxing not because kids and young fighters love boxing so much but simply because that's the only way they can put bread on the table.

That's why you had hundreds of thousands of professional (and underground) boxers around the world in the post-depression 1930s. They and their families were starving and could choose between becoming homeless, stealing.. or boxing.

I hope once many younger kids realize its not the land of milk and honey out there career wise some of the more naturally gifted athletes will once again consider amateur and then professional boxing. Rather than going for some random corporate career like they did in the 80s and 90s because there was plenty of opportunity.

With the notable exception of two recent ones (Prescott vs. Cuello and Arreola vs. Quezada...:barf).

They have had some great ones to counter-balance, though. :good

Even the Wednesday Night Fights in the past week was entertaining, even though it was not competitive.
