Pretty much Elvis. Dunne made the very most of his career given his chin. World Class skills and a Euro level chin. If he had a granite chin he could have gone a lot further. A big part of his percieved lack of power was the fact he couldn't get in and trade (well he could but it wasn't advisable) without risking getting sparked by even moderate punchers.

He fought a lot of fights and did well to keep his arse off the canvas in all but 4 of them

As I remember it Dunne was hurt at one point but recovered well, he was coming on strong after he got cut and was hitting Faccio with some hard shots even with blood streaming down his face. He definitely didn't want the fight to be stopped, you could hear him protesting in the corner so I don't know what Faccio is on about.
Dunne had skills to burn and decent power but his fragile chin was always going to let him down. Looking at other so called world champions duck out of fighting their hard hitting mandatories makes you appreciate Dunne's attitude even more.

...look lads, Bernard Dunne is as good a technical boxer that has came out of this country in a long time, Bernard won everything that was to be won in Ireland as an Amateur..I remember his ring entrances as a Schoolboy..I also recall Bernard sparring Middleweights on a Sunday morning..a lot harder than 4 rounds with your average pro journeyman...

He's a genuis and what a year he's having. After seemingly going off the boil - right smack in the middle of when St Michael's went loco for prizes and recognition and him being the forgotten man.

    Eric Donovan :good

How did the sparring go with John Simpson? Have you been in with many southpaws before in sparring or before you turned pro?

...Eric was the best boxer to train that I ever had the pleasure to work with..him and Eamonn Tuohy from Joe Ward's club, those boys could really knock off the pounds in a training session..
