He is a little raw right now, but I am extremely excited about him. He definitely needs to work on his footwork. I thought Teddy's comments during the fight were very accurate. He said that sometimes Yordenis stepped in too much when throwing a punch, like he was overanxious. That seems really accurate to me, but it should be corrected as he gets more in-ring experience at the pro level and gets more training.

Anybody know anything about the trainer he was with, John David Thomas or something?

That's exactly what I have been saying for years. Little by little, they are here now, before it was just a matter of " what if the Cubans were here " but now they are defecting in big numbers. And, the vast majority of them are still in Cuba. How would it be then if Cuba was completely free? Get the picture ??? :hey

Along with Gamboa and Rigondeaux, Ugas follows. The kid just blew me away " Gamboa style " with his vicious speed, accuracy, aggression and power. Tell you what, he will be one of the best Cuban pro Champions...:good

Better than Lara, Solis, Johnson, Despaigne, Acosta, Perez, etc...:bbb

It's because Cuba's leading man Gamboa only has 18 pro fights and the rest are kind of starting. The man said, " in a few years ". Can't you ever say anything positive about the Cuban boxers? After all, Cuba is Puerto Rico's brother...:-(

I agree with him, Gamboa, Rigondeaux, Lara and later Ugas will be cracking the P4P's very soon...:good

He looked pretty good in his ESPN debut, though it was clear he's in the early adjustlng-to-pro period. Nice to see him staying busy and it's simply superb to see John David Jackson in the corner. I consider Ugas as one of the top Cuban boxers out there who has tremendous potential, but known for a suspect chin, so how far can he go is really up to him and the next two years. One thing is for sure, he's got excellent athleticism, a crowd-pleaser right hand and seemingly the right mentality Cuban pros very often lack. I wish him good luck and a successful career.

No hermano,Zapata wasnt a boxer,he was a political prisioner who recently went into a hunger strike and died in jail after been tortured in every way. This was my tribute to him after his death.
