I'd do it if El Buja would do it with me, just thought i'd throw that out there. That way you could also get a tie/draw. Or as said already on this thread, you could have three judges.

 

Of all the guys that have stepped-up so far, let's hear for those you'd accept as a judge.

 

I'd say McGrain is impartial. So was Sweet Pea.

Isn't that the point hear to have and express opinions?
If your looking for someone without an opinion you can count me out, and good luck with your search. I'm not being condescending. I just fell if that is your aim finding someone who fits the bill is going to be next to imposible to find.
If your looking for someone with an opinion than I'd be interested in sharing my opinion.

Sure, but the stricter criteria than 100% impartiality might be who is generally agreed to have the most knowledge while still being level-headed and not extremely biased in any direction. Mild predilections for or against certain fighters or styles wouldn't bother me in such a judge, if he was really a top analyst and mostly stayed in the middle of the road.

 

Respectfully, this is the way I see it:

We are all part of putting in the effort to eventually reach solid consensus regarding key questions of the fight game.

But the dirty work must be done and, may I say, it is a blast!

To illustrate what I mean: before the advent of the Internet, as a fan I was dogged by questions of whether Ali could beat Tyson or whether Tyson would crush Ali; whether Leonard deserved the moniker "Sugar Ray"; whether a modern heavyweight --no matter how mediocre-- would destroy Joe Louis, simply because of natural evolution in sports. You get the idea.

After years on these boards, I see two things:

a) my own opinions are solidifying --or changing-- into rock-hard convictions, based on pitting my own views against those of knowledgeable individuals from places all over the world.

b) the general prevailing viewpoints attained at venues such as this forum and similar respected media are --in many key questions-- approaching consensus status, and will inform our legacy to the next generation.

So, after years of investing hour upon hour sitting here reading, racking my brains, pounding keys, pondering a million-and-one imaginary ring scenarios on the jogging path, in the shower, in the late hours of the night in bed, I am no longer troubled by visions of a bully named Mike Tyson saddening the world by snuffing out the magic of Muhammad Ali; I know Sugar Ray Leonard to be one of the greatest fighters anyone alive has ever seen compete in the pro ring; and I am certain that Joe Louis will continue to be admired as the uniquely extraordinary champion he was...forever.

Similarly, today's community of boxing experts --which has now grown thanks to technology-- will usually have a sound answer to any serious question anyone may pose about the ring and its imponderables.

Weird opinions will always exist: many Americans think their President is a Muslim born in Kenya.

But, as regards boxing, in my view the wheat is day-by-day being separated from the chaff by good hands that sometimes seem to get nowhere.

 

Lemme cut to the chase: humans have opinions, but when they're made judges they're s'possed to moth-ball 'em 'n decide on the merits of the case.

Those that don't agree with verdicts will carp about an agenda. C'est la guerre!

Pick a judge, or two or three, who you think are most qualified and live with their decision. The buck's gotta stop someplace.

 

I think if their avatar has a boxer (like me) in it. Rather the image is positive,neutral or negative. They can not be considered impartial. Especially in regards to the bpxer(s) in their avatar.

 

Chris Pontius and McGrain are as impartial as it gets for people who have posted a shitload over the years. And Stoney if we ban him from Jones topics

Sure, although I believe I should stay away if Duran, Liston or Dempsey are involved. Word has it my opinion on those doesn't align with the consensus.
