Dawson beaten by a man not good enough to beat an ordinary fighter like froch, Dawson a man so hyped up its hilarious to read how big bad chad was going to smash all , and how he would demolish any light heavy put in front of him etc
The last time I heared hype of the magnitude of that written about dawson was when Pavlik was going to be an ATG and yet an old Hopkins took him to boxing school when they met.
And now he gets beaten by Pascal a man who Froch could beat but Dawson a man said to be the elite of the light heavies couldnt.
I watched him when he fought Johnson and he was damn lucky not to lose that fight.
Its been funny reading threads about how he would easily have beaten Calzaghe, he would have been lucky to lay 1 punch on Calzaghe and its a big regret I have as a Calzaghe fan that Joe didnt take on Dawson and take him to the cleaners because it would have been such an easy nights work because he is so easy to hit, but I accept that Dawson just wasnt that big a name.
I cant see it happening but if Calzaghe came out of retirement right now and got himself back in shape I truly believe that him and Hopkins would beat the current light heavies and super middles around because there is no one on their level in the current super middle or light heavy division with the skills, will to win, and the ability to adapt to a situation mid fight to turn it around.
No one is better at nulifying an opponent than Hopkins and no one is better than Calzaghe at finding a way to win.
What I think tell a lot about a figher as well is the reaction after a fight, Dawson when asked how he felt after the fight said he didnt mind too much due to the fact there was a rematch in the deal.
Do you think that attitude about a loss is a good sign? Shouldnt he be absolutely devastated at losing his title instead of brushing it off becasue of a couple of lines inserted into the contact saying he gets a rematch?
Would fighters of the past be so quick to dismiss a loss?
Pascal was so much the better fighter that he would probably lose the rematch as well so I wouldnt be so quick to assume its a blip or lucky victory for pascal.

    Carl Froch = Ordinary fighter?

You don't get this far and be ordinary. People seriously underrate the guy and I don't even like him.

Dawsons a good fighter, I never thought he was the next pound for pounder in boxing but he is good, I'd say he made a mistake by basically taking two years out to see off the light heavyweight OAP's, when he got into it with someone young that he couldn't have the fight his own way with it caught up with him.

Pascal was way better than Dawson in the fight, Dawson wouldnt beat Pascal if pascal was glued to the ring and couldnt move :good

I can see calzaghe outpointing Dawson. Possibly winning every round. But pascal looked very beatable in his last outing. Most of the criticism of heard concerning the fight is for Dawson and the lack of work rate and his unwillingness to turn up the heat on a guy who was basically waiting to be floored. I've heard no express how awsomely unstoppable pascal looked.

Ive seen more workrate from a ring post than what Dawson showed.
Anyone with slightly more movement than a person in traction could beat dawson

Dawson would still wipe the floor with every fighter Slappy faced and the king of coke boogers himself. You need to join your overrated idol in retirement.

truth is that the second Dawson faced a skill fighters with some bounce in his legs, he couldn't get off. Its not just like he forgot how to punch. He couldn't close the distance.
