Would barely scratch my list of top 10 fighters of the last decade.

He waited too long to make the transition over to America.

He was pretty good but too bad he waited for jones and hopkins to get old before fighting them.

I was very impress at how he dominated mikkel kessler. That to me is his best win.

Hopkins backed out of fighting Calzaghe when he was MW champ and Jones wanted big money, but in truth Calzaghe wasnt on Jones radar. Think when Jones was fighting Ruiz at HW, Calzaghe hadnt even fought B Mitchell. The fight never made sense with Jones being LHW and Calzaghe at SMW

as an smw he is undoubtedly an ATG.

in terms of overall p4p, he aint that great.

it is a shame the likes of toney, johnson, ottke, beyer, tarver, rjj, pavlik, taylor, dawson, woods never got to fight him. whoever fault it might be for each fight coming off is another matter. but undoubtedly, had calzaghe beaten these names he really would be an ATG

    LMAO @ Legend Killer.

If beating Jones Jr's Corpse to a UD and getting dropped in the process makes you a Legend killer......then what does that make Danny Greene who KO'd him in 1 round?

    This.

His record needs some top notch fighters on it. The way I see it, he was generally unknown and inconsequential until the Lacy fight. Beating Bika, Manfredo, Kessler, Old Hopkins and shot RJJ is not enough to vault a guy from the position he was in then to atg status. But that's just me.

I think its unfortunate that Calzaghe wasnt 3 years younger , the SMW and LHW division now is bouncing with great fighters , and when you run down the list who today would of beaten the Calzaghe of 08 ???

    IMO none of them

And watching Pascal Dawson confirmed this for me , i was thinking the whole time imagine these 2 faced with constant swarming of Calzaghe , he would of dominated every top SMW and every LHW that walks the planet today , ive seen Pavliks name kicking around , man are you shitting me , i mean come on , bearing all of the above in mind you have to give Calzaghe some credit , he was a very good fighter with a weak resume , thats Calzaghe in a nut shell :deal

He was only inconsequential to American fans before Lacy because Lacy was a fighter that America recognised. He wasnt inconsequential in Europe and as said on here many times beat a wealth of good names. Eubank however you choose to view him, Reid, Woodhall, Mitchell and other names like Brewer, Veit, Mkertchyan, Starie, Sheika.
