Margo's best shots come from the left hand, primarily his left hook to the body. The only way to beat pac's buzzsaw offence is timing and a good lead right. Margo has neither. But his workrate and pressure will make the later rounds interesting.

Yep, Steve Kim definitely said a couple of months before the fight that Margarito had been partying way too hard after the Cotto fight and was in horrendous physical condition given the timescale to the fight with Mosley.

I notice his comeback fight was at 154, I wonder if that was just a feel at the weight or all he could get down to at that time? :think

Yeah Margarito struggles to get down to 147. And Roach always gets fighters to drain themselves always. Cotto, DLH, Marquez, Paulie etc He is a good matchmaker average trainer.

As for the fight: For Pac to stop to Tony M he's gonna really have to razzle dazzle consistently with pure, natural power. I can't see that happening. I don't think Pac's ready to throw caution to the wind these days and aim to take his man out. Roach and Arum will be telling him not to take many chances.

He'll buzz round Margarito all night making him look a bit silly. The combos and the speed will be there and Tony M will probably smirk the damage off. The only way he has a chance is to really sacrifice an illegal point or two and tie him up, rough him up and start getting in close coz I still think Pac's ring discipline can be got at by the right fighter.

But Pac will get early rounds with blistering rat-a-tat-tat combos that will draw "oohs" and "aahs" from the crowd. And whilst Margarito is a better opponent than Clottey it's still gonna be Pac wide on points. Maybe even a shut-out.

I hope Pac chins him in a round without taking a punch because Floyd's clearly hoping to see Pac get a little shopworn before he'll man up. More likely is that Pac will stop him in about 8 rounds though - perhaps breaking Margo's jaw in the process.

 

Go and watch his fights mate from the very beginning and then question his heart. Not every Cotto fight involved Pac or Tony M. That boy is proper old school and would go out on his shield.

It is a very interesting fight. Pac will be fighting at a new weight against the biggest fighter he has ever fought. Eventually size will have to become an issue. If Margo was 5 inches smaller then Pac would dominate him and at some point stop him. However Pac is about 5'6.5 and Margo is about 5'11.5. If Pac can handle the weight and size then he will do his thing otherwise Margo will be the same old bulldozer.
