No...... In the 1990s and to this day, the IBC, WBF, WBU and IBO are bull**** belt groups..... BUT!! The WBO has emerged....... However, in my book, prior to the 2004"Wlad Klit-Lamon Brewster" fight on HBO, I never thought the WBO held any water...... The WBO woke-up in 2004....... Not that this is a good sign.... no way. the wbo didn't get momentum has being recognized as a major title until the early 2000s. it was amazing that a fourth organization got recognized by the media as a major title. the ibo right now is a lot like the wbo was in the 90s imo.
Wasn't Bowe the WBO champ before Morrison? Yeah-- for what its worth Morrison was the WBO champ. The IBO is unlike the others. They use computerized rankings.
Actually i think Barrera was the first champ to legitimize that belt. At one time he was hands down the best but only held the WBO. I use to consider the WBA,WBC,IBF the 3 major ones(WBO had some good champs) But now i dont even keep up with who holds what belts or really care. I know only care about meaningful fights. I know who all the top fighters are but i can no longer name you the beltholders cause i no longer care. At one time i could run it all down to you easily like religion but not no more. And no i dont really recognize Morrison as a beltholder at the time WBO was pretty new and meaningless. Like another poster said if you do you have to recognize Michael Bennt and Herbie hide then.
This, and like you said the WBO had gained a lot of credibility. Contrastly, the WBA has lost a considerable amount in recent years.

Then the next org that does something crazy and without a single reasonable justification (which will be the WBC), we'll get rid of them too. ...Eventually...we won't have any organizations and we'll live in anarchy and never mind this comment. He was an alphabet champ. A lot of fighters have been. He was never the legitimate heavyweight champion though, or even a heavyweight champion as is now more often the case. The WBO belt was worth nothing then.
I'd take this as the best explanation. It's sad we have to look at 4-5 (if you follow the Ring) belts to get a general idea of who is the actual champ in a given division. Then there are splinter belts like regional and interim, which is also crap. Then if that "Diamond belt" garbage ever gets off the ground...well I'd be all but quitting my interest in the sport. As for the IBO, the way they do rankings actually shows promise, but the founder died years ago (Jim Robinson? I'm running "low" on memory here). So the org has been floundering a little since then.
