Why is Mayweather the consensus P4P no. 1 right now?

Sure, I await the joyboys remonstrating Floyd's power as a smart business man, solutions to beat Floyd Mayweather and the lackthereof, etc.. But seriously, Manny was P4P #1 when Floyd "retired", and since then...

He fought and stopped DLH, Hatton, Cotto and Clottey. All bigger guys, all at weights higher than he is comfortable.

Mayweather fought Marquez (couldn't stop him) and Mosley (couldn't stop him). Marquez is a little guy that Floyd had move up before neglecting to make weight. Mosley is the guy who got outboxed by the guy that Pac had just taken to school. You could argue that Mosley is the bigger man of the two (him and Cotto) but he is definitely not bigger than Clottey, whom Pacquiao beat more comprehensively than Mayweather did Mosley.

You cannot tell me that the disparity of sizes between Pac and Clottey (prime, btw, vs. a Mosley so far removed from his prime that he no longer remembers what it looked like) is anywhere near as close as the disparity between Floyd and Shane. In fact, I've seen it written that Floyd looked bigger than Shane on fight night.

So if Manny has fought and beaten more comfortably, bigger guys than Mayweather has, how has he lost his P4P crown?

There is no blueprint to beating floyd mayweather and all roads leading to him are not valid reasons. Nor is him being a gorilla. Nor a dog.

Apparently, the Mayweather fans still believe that after beating Mosley he is now the P4P 1.

Most people see Pacquiao as P4P number 1.

Currently running a P4P vote for the ESB Rankings and Pacquiao is way ahead of Mayweather. at least 75% have Pacquiao number 1, Mayweather number 2. you can vote on it here.

P4P rankings are all subjective, there's no right or wrong answer

They're useless as well, people put far too much stock in them

Pac was bigger than Oscar when they fought! (fight night weight) Which Oscar wasn't comfortable with, and i think hindsight has taught us Pac is very comfortable at.

I agree with pretty much everything else you say, altho the quality of opponents might be whats keeping him so high.

Marquez was P4P number 2 and Pac had already refused to fight him, before he called Mayweather out. Sugar Shane was P4P number 3. (defo top 5)

I've heard people say 'how can you lose P4P top spot without lossing a fight' (pac). But truth be told, how can you expect to hold onto top spot in the P4P rankings when your not fighting many P4P ranked opponents, when at the same time, your nearest rival is busy beatng the number 2 and 3 ranked P4P fighters.

Thats the only possible reason i can see to have Mayweather ahead of Pac at the moment in time.

Good points althoug i would like to point out that both fighters marked in red were both made to fight at an uncomfortable catchweight. Also stoppages are irrelevent when you're winning every single round quite comfortably (and Mosley isn't known for getting stopped but got beat up).

As for the bit in Yellow.... Mosley lost a close decision to Cotto. Cotto got beat senseless by Margarito and Mosley smashed Margarito up... see what i did there?....

As a Mayweather fan I fully accept that Manny should still be considered pound for pound number 1.

However your repeated use of comfortable weight is silly and ******ed. Pacquiao has proven he is a better fighter now then he was at 130-135 when he was getting his ass kicked by a shot Morales and Marquez.

Not only that, but both Hatton and Cotto were previously brutally beaten by 2 other fighters. So in a way they were damaged goods who had been exposed. Oscar was shot and weight drained. And Clottey was always gonna just let Pacquiao stand and beat on him.

I believe Mosley was the best welterweight in the world. Not Cotto or Clottey.

Pac is number 1. Without even having to discuss in ring ability, PBF loses points for lack of activity and avoiding Pac

In this case we're talking about 2 welterweights, its not like comparing a Hopkins and a Klitschko

Why are so many *******s making threads about whos rated higher? What raised their level of insecurity so badly in the last couple of days?

Realizing Arum is a crook and their heros about to be fighting a criminal for a fake championship at another catchweight?
