In order of their greatness, what are your top 15 ATG heavyweights? My ATG heavy list - 1. Ali 2. Lewis 3. Marciano 4. Louis 5. Johnson 6. Foreman 7. Holmes 8. Frazier 9. Holyfield 10. Liston 11. Wlad 12. Bowe 13. Vitali 14. Dempsey 15. Tyson
To me Lennox Lewis is almost as great as Ali - He went 41-2 against very good competition. Was virtually undefeated as he destroyed McCall And Rahman in rematches. Lennox beat ATG Holyfield once, but he deserved teh decision both times. Holyfield was coming off 2 wins over prime Tyson. He destroyed Mike Tyson, in what was meant to be a 50-50 superfight. Lewis also dominated a dangerous selection of grade B+/A- contenders in Shannon Briggs, Andrew Golota, Michael Grant, David Tua, Franciois Botha, Ray Mercer, Frank Bruno, Donovan Ruddock and Tommy Morrison. Was a champion for a combined 9 years And a World champion for 6 years! Before retiring, past-prime almost-shot Lennox destroyed ATG Vitali Klitchko, who went on to be WBC champion for 4 years [even with layoff inbetween] and more if he still fights in 2011.
:good Lennox lewis IS one of if not thee greatest HW's ever, his resume' is second only to Ali's (one could make an argument that Lewis's is better)
I can see you getting alot of criticism for it, but I think it's pretty decent. I like Wlad and Vitali getting some recognition as they deserve it, and I think Lewis is still hugely under-rated and so I don't mind the number 2 rating as much as others probably will. My qualms with it would be that I'd have Tyson higher around 10ish. And I'd have Louis and maybe a few more over Marciano. Edit: Bowe over Vitali, Dempsey, Tyson??? That's a hard sell.
Agree! :thumbsup :thumbsup Ali is teh GOAT only by a razor thin margin of greatness over Lennox Lewis. Ali beat Liston, Foreman And Frazier. Lewis beat Holyfield and Tyson. BUT - Lewis beat better quality contenders, ended with less loses, was a champion for longer And destroyed those who beat him in rematches.
You have Frazier way to low. Actually, he should be above Ali...he beat him 2 out of their 3 meetings. Thats right. Heres the facts about the "Thrilla in Manilla." After 14 rounds of boxing with Frazier ahead on the scorecards, both men were near death. Ali asked Dundee to cut his gloves off, he was done, ALI WANTED TO QUIT!!! While in Fraziers corner, his manager wanted to stop the fight. Joe said "don't you stop in mofo'ing fight!!!" Frazier was ready to go out for the 15th round, But, his corner did what they thiught was best & stopped it. Ali was in total shock when he saw this, knowing he was now the winner. I minor techicality as far as I'm concerned. Frazier beat his ass 2 out 3, and Ali was ready to QUIT!!! Those are the facts.:deal
How about some of you people post your own ATG Heavy lists - instead of just complaining about mine?? :bbb:bbb
That list is pretty bad. First you got the wrong Lewis at #2 (Louis actually should probably be #1) Foreman is to high Wlad and Vitali are to high and shouldn't be on the list. Dempsey and Tyson are to low.
