sorry, don't remember. i know it was a close fight. oscar fought smarter than most, and capitalized on floyd's inactivity by constantly throwing and occasionally landing, despite not being very effective, he was dictating many of the earlier rounds. i agree money won the fight, but if two different fighters were in the ring and they fought the exact same way, many probably would've given the fight to whoever fought like oscar. most judges and fans don't have the skill or intelligence to see past aggression for effectiveness.

I gave the 6th to Oscar, because it was a good round for him, pressing and jabbing well, the 9th was all PBF, and the 12th I scored it even on fightnight, 10-9 Oscar when re-watched the fight, he did better than Floyd in the last round.

Round 6: For Young Mayweather. Floyd landed an uppercut early. A few power punches from Mayweather. $ had the cleaner punches. Oscar got in one good right hand and a few body shots on Floyd.

Round 9: For Young Mayweather. Oscar was getting clowned on in the first half and the last minute of the round. Not much action going on in the middle third of the round.

Round 12: For Moung Mayweather. Floyd landed some clean jabs, right hands, and body shots on oscar. Oscar got the better of Floyd in their final 10 second brawl, but it wasn't Oscar's ring generalship that got Floyd into that position. Floyd stopped being so careful since there was only 10 seconds left.

Not a spectacular performance from Young Mayweather, but definitely a learning experience. He makes sure to stay off the ropes now. $ knows the power of activity when it comes to stealing rounds now; how can anyone be satisfied with walking away with a split decision after winning 9 rounds?

Oscar's excellent hand placement, chin, and Floyd's single potshots made Floyd look unimpressive.

    I've just rewatched this bout...

    Rnd 1. 10-9 Floyd.
    Rnd 2. 10-9 Oscar.
    Rnd 3. 10-10 Even.
    Rnd 4. 10-9 Floyd.
    Rnd 5. 10-9 Floyd.
Rnd 6. 10-9 Oscar....Oscar produced the better work.
    Rnd 7. 10-9 Oscar.
    Rnd 8. 10-9 Floyd.
Rnd 9. 10-9 Floyd....Floyd clearly took this round...Oscar had success in the first 30 seconds if I remember rightly...other than that it was all Mayweather.
    Rnd 10. 10-9 Floyd.
    Rnd 11. 10-9 Floyd.
    Rnd 12. 10-10 Even....Back and forth round...very even round.

    Floyd 7...Oscar 3...2 Even.

Cant be arsed goin into my fight collection & watching the fight tbh but I remember full well that Mayweather won rd 12 & to me - if you uderstand the art of boxing - that rd was undisputable.

(please dont tell me that your leaning towards DLH for this fight ? :-(, I hope not)

I couldn't answer you on this one, Pop. Because I don't remember and...I can't really watch "the fight that saved boxing" again.

First of all, the comment in red is just stupid. If round 12 of Oscar-Floyd is your definition of an "indisputable" round then I'd seriously suggest you make an appointment at your local hospital to have Floyd's length surgically dislodged from your throat.

One of the top three posters in the Classic Forum scored DLH-Mayweather to Oscar by a point; I only found this out last week, so I went to re-score it myself, as I remembered it as a dull, narrow Floyd win.

    My card...

    Oscar - 2,3,4,7,8
    Floyd - 1,5,10,11

    6,9,12 - unsure

    Hence the thread.

I think all rounds other than 6, 9 and 12 are pretty clear-cut, but those three are extremely difficult to make a decision on. I can see 10-10s or wins either way, so I wanted to see what the consensus on these rounds was, and to see what the posters that I respect think of them. Sometimes it's very hard to make up your mind, even on repeated viewings.

12 is a Floyd round. Oscar doesnt land a punch for the first 2 minutes of the round. How do you give a round for someone who doesnt land a punch for the first 2 minutes?

Someone could do nothing for 2mins 30secs, but if they squeezed more effective work into the last 30secs than his opponent managed in the preceding 2mins 30secs, they win the round. Time has nothing to do with it, it is about the effective work achieved in between the rings of the bell.

I'm not saying Oscar won the last round, I view it as a very close round which could easily be a 10-10.

By about Round 7 I had Floyd up about 5-2 I believe, maybe more. Then I just turned it off out of boredom, not a fight that deserves anything near a SD.
