lamotta may have invited the iron chin but chuvalo improved on that.come on lamotta didn't have to deal with heavyweight punches did he.

But Chuvalo was a heavyweight, so I don't get your point. If Chuvalo was a middleweight too then your point would be relevant, but as a heavyweight, you'd expect him to take heavyweight punches better than a middleweight, wouldn't you?

i'm simply saying that a heavyweight can take the best shot,so i'd pick chuvalo.now if your talking p4p that maybe different
some of these guys on here posting have either a short memory or a short history in boxing, any serious boxing fan knows about chuvalos chin

I assume we are talking P4P, or people wouldn't be mentioning the likes of Laporte and Villasana.

chuvalo, ali, chavez, hagler, robinson, lamotta. I'll give an honourable mention to joe frazier. jerry quarry, who on a scale of 1 to 10 was probably a 9 (in terms of punching power) was hitting frazier flush with the same punches that knocked out other men but frazier kept coming and only got stronger.

Any serious boxing would fan would probably try to think of someone else other than George Chuvalo, AKA 'someone Ali fought.'

As many times as this topic is brought up, the top 5 should always be the same. Unless some new fighter has over 40 fights under his record and dazzles us by withstanding the kind of punishment from top opposition as these guys did:

    Jake LaMotta
    Muhammad Ali
    Marvin Hagler
    Evander Holyfield
    George Chuvalo

Hey, what about Jorge Castro? He wasn't stopped in over 100 fights till he went up to cruiserweight, and even then was hard to take down.
