Nowadays he has little pop, back in the day he could hit though.

Not nearly as hard as his KO ratio would indicate, though.

I think it would be a battle.

Bowe was the better overall boxer IMO. Bowe had a great jab, good power in both hands, quick hands, good footwork, a good workrate, and was very durable... he is one of only a few HW Champs who were never stopped (Tunney, Marciano, Toney, Ibragimov, and Valuev are the others).

    V. Klitschko is 2 1/2" taller but Bowe's reach is 1" longer. At their most fit Klitschko is about 5-10 Lbs heavier. No real size advantage IMO.

Vitali has been stopped twice (shoulder injury and cuts) but he has never been down. Bowe was down vs. Holyfield and Golota.

Klitschko has a good jab, good power in both hands, great chin, and great strength.

    The fight?

I think Bowe would stick and move. I see Bowe working his way in with quick jabs then throwing quick combinations before getting out of the way.

Bowe likes to mix it up on the inside as well. I think he would be able to do this well and he'd be inside of Klitschko's reach and power.

I see V.K. hurting Bowe and maybe even dropping him but I think Bowe would recover and go on to win on points.

    I love this post. :good

Beating a prime Evander Holyfield unanimously and almost KOing him, is more impressive of a victory than Tyson ever had...than Vitali ever had...than, shall i say it, Lennox ever had?

What, are they going to have a dance competition, followed by a piano recital?

I think Vitali is more athletically talented anyways.

It's a boxing match mate, not a prison shower shoot-out.

So should we be having Michael Moorer V Klitschko threads - Actually Moorer has a better resume than Bowe and didnt throw belts in the garbage rather than face a hard puncher!.

Its clear that if Bowe ever fought someone who could really pop he was going down.
It's crazy that a fighter who has the attributes to beat someone a lot smaller with is not a 1 punch KO artist is suddenly has mythical abilities bestowed on them even when after a 2 title eliminator fights he would rather through a belt in the garbage rather than defend it.
Why does he get such a free ride - Buster Douglas had an equally impressive win against a power puncher too - I would say their peaks were comparable in length except Douglas never shamed the belt Ali and Frazier nearly died fighting for by throwing it the garbage rather than face a live opponent!!!

I think the main equalizer in this match up is the chin..

Riddick Bowe was in my eyes clearly more polished, he had the better jab, he was the better inside fighter and had a ton of guts but his chin was lacking.. And I think that could be the difference in this H2H match up..

I watched Bowe first hand, I recorded his entire career myself on those good old VHS tapes..

I saw him hurt bad by a left hook from a shot Tyrell Biggs (who was not a puncher)

We know a Holyfield at maybe 50% of him self had Bowe down off of one shot and ready to be taken, if Holyfield would have had anything to give there then you could have scored that fight KO win for Holyfield!!

Herbie Hide froze Bowe with his punches more then once in that fight but couldn't seem to get out of his own way in that fight and got himself stopped..

Golota wrecked Bowe in both fights but we will say Bowe was far gone at that point..

Ok so Vitali, I have never seen this guy really hurt, at least not in the way we have seen Bowe hurt.. I agree the Vitali is a bit Robotic (best term I can come up with to describe how he looks in there) But I just think though hes not a huge puncher he gets there with alot of telling shots and they hurt.. He is definitely in my eyes a heavier puncher then either Holyfield or Biggs..

I just think though Bowe is much more schooled in the classic sense and has the edge in many areas, I just think Vitali and his awkward style and size both play a role here and I see him being behind on points but stopping Bowe late in the fight, those right hands get there at some point and Bowe doesn't recover..

I like Bowe here, he was an excellent infighter for a big man, had a good jab, decent right cross, and when in shape I would give him a shot against Lennox.
    Vitali's opposition has been woeful.

Outside of a hit or miss Evander, who struggled against Cooper and mightily against Moorer during his supposed prime, who the hell did Bowe ever beat of note? A coked-up Mike Dokes? Jesse Ferguson? Herbie Hide? Bruce Seldon? Or perhaps lowblowing Pierre Coetzer into submission is a great win.
