I was thinking mis-matches between an old great and a modern Champ... how about Bob Fitzsimmons vs. V. Klitschko?

I tried to focus on relatively popular matchups like this one. I really believe that Larry Holmes would leave Rocky's face looking like a bloody mess after 6-7 rounds of eating jabs, lead hooks and uppercuts. Even when Rocky corners Larry he would just clinch, rinse and repeat. Yes Larry Holmes was prone to falling asleep during dominating performances and getting caught by right hands but...Rocky isn't as big as Shavers nor as good as Norton so I don't see that happening here. Rocky would simply have to pay too high a price to get inside and ,once paid, land with authority... Rocky's feet were to slow and his arms were to short for that to happen against someone with Larry Holmes length, arsenal and chin.

what the hell:-( rocky Marciano isn't as good as norton? what? if norton can give holmes such a good fight, and if snipes can catch rocky with one good right hand, rocky will be all over holmes with all kinds of punches. plus holmes has a tendency to brawl once he gets hurt. you can't do that with Marciano. Marciano would hit holmes everywhere, even if he does clinch. it's not like holmes is stronger then rocky. he couldn't dance forever.

If you compare film of Norton to film on Marciano, you'll see that Norton was head and shoulders above Marciano athletically and technically. He was a nightmare for contenders in the 70's and also took Ali and Holmes to hell and back. I'm sorry but the truth is that Norton was, in fact, better than Marciano.

Rocky was chin, elbows and forearms above Kenny in guts and toughness. Norton was no nightmare to Foreman, Shavers or Cooney, and maybe not to Lyle either. Marciano was a nightmare to EVERYBODY.
