You're the second person to ask that question, techks - but nobody's really dished out too much hate on Calderon ITT. On ESB in general, sure - he gets the same amount of heat as Spinks and any other high-profile boxer with an evasive and "feather-fisted" style. It's not disrespectful, though, to think he stands a good chance of being KTFO against one of the physically biggest and strongest punchers he's faced, at a point when even his fans agree he's shot and express concern about his ability to use his movement over the full distance. :good
I know I just don't like when people criticize fighters that really understand the "sweet science". I agree that his movement has declined but with his technical ability & counterpunching he still should win though it shouldn't be an easy victory. But the question is, how good are his reflexes still?
Unfortunately they were looking a bit slow against Jesus Iribe (who I'm a sentimental fan of for the grit and determination he always shows, but isn't exactly the sharpest offensive fighter).
Age is catching up to Ivan. After this fight he needs to consider if he wants to continue his career. I wouldn't hold anything against him if he did retire especially if he goes on to beat Segura.
Certainly he should not move any higher up in weight. If he must continue after Segura (win lose or draw) it might not be a bad idea to cut back down to minimum if he's able.
Yeah weight can become an issue to an older fighter but I just hope he beats Segura first before I worry about what he'll do next.
You think so. I seriously doubt that. At 126 Rafa is not the strongest puncher and he will look too small against Juanma. I give Rafa all the credit in the world but I don't see him winning by any means.
Who else? I said one of. :good Calderon's speed and timing has degraded even just in the two years and three bouts since Cazares.
Yep, I am surprised no one has mentioned that. I'll be rooting for Ivan of course, yes, Segura is dangerous but he swings wildly too much.
:rofl I'm hoping the Iron Boy wins this in a blow-out. I can't stand to see a sloppy fighter beat a boxer with serious skills! This guy swings like he's blind-folded and a pinata is in the room.
