Agree'd but when in the past have we seen Mosley literally steaming forward in the clinch the way he did with Margo ?? it was clearly part of the gameplan , and now part of the blue print ........... This is something Roach surely will not ignore , look at the Cotto Marg fight , if Cotto would of stood his ground and clinched it out with Margo a bit more , there is a great chance he wouldnt of been stopped , and maybe would of nicked the fight on the cards ............ I just dont think you can right Manny off and say he will not push Margo back in close quarters looking at how important of a factor it was in the Marg Mosley fight , if Pacquiao doesnt box his head off , or comes into a situation where he feels a plan B is needed he may just look to get physical with Margarito , and what im saying is that even though he's the natural smaller man , i beleive he's strong enough to nullify Margarito's bullying tactics in the clinch if he needs to be , which i dont beleive he will .................
Pac didn't look strong in the clinches with Cotto or on the occasions he got physical with his last opponent. He looks strong considering his size, but tony will be huge at 151 even. The plan has to be hit and run, and do enough damage to make the closing rounds irrelevant.
Pac will utilise his footspeed to stop Marg from ever building a rhythm, his durability to ride out whatever shots Margo does land, and the angles to catch Marg time and time again with punches he doesn't see. I don't believe Pac has the same amount of strength and Mosley, who was ridiculously strong in his prime and was still decent when e fought what was not an in-shape Margarito. If you look at the monster that turned up for the fight with Cotto and what could almost be described as the Scarecrow that turned up for the fight with Shane, they're different. Pacs best best is to get close enough in ring centre with the ear muffs up and elbows tucked in like he now tries to do, to get te referee to initiate the break, if he overshoots on a flurry as he can, although with Margo always leaning in, I can't see that happening too much. If he gets trapped on the ropes he could be ****ed. He was able to slip underneath Cottos more methodical hooks when trapped, and turn Cotto coming off the ropes. Margaritos offence is more frenetic, but also more straight on; I think Pac will have no trouble getting off the ropes, he's a much more improved fighter as of late and will make Antonio looks as slow as Stephen Hawking going up Snowden. I think Pac will win a wide decision, with few hairy moments. Not as disappointing as the Clottey fight, but lacking the drama of the Cotto fight (before it became a one sided fight after four rounds, but ho-hum) but maybe Pac can hurt yet another opponent and force a stoppage, I think probably to Margo being savagely outclassed, Pacs punches just do not have the thud at 147 that Mosley had, it's a different kind of power. I just cannot envision Pac beating Marg down. It hasn't happened in a 'big' fight for a while so I reckon a TD Draw after a headbutt will/should **** on Bobs parade
Everyone from 11st up uses 10oz mate and everyone below 11st wears 8oz.. Them 8oz Reyes are a scary pair of gloves.. My hands would fall apart in them..:verysad
:thinkChrist yeah the power and impact that your hands have to withstand there's can't be much protection in them . I use 12oz on a heavy bag just a casual user though and wrap my hands
I got a pair of 8oz Reyes :yep Sadly have never had to chance to wall someone onto a right hand wearing 'em, have only used them to hit the bag at my house, needless to say I was not allowed to wear them at the gym
Tony, do you have a view on the colour of the gloves? When everyone including your promoter used Khan's trainer as a scape goat when he got KO'd against Prescott saying the trainer recommended this guy so they followed his advices. I couldn't help thinking, but why in the world would you let your guy fight in "black" gloves that are tightly packed like speed bag gloves? There is a reason why the best 135, 40's, 47's namely Floyd/Pacman, fight in white, orange and red gloves: Because you can see the punches and time them with shoulder roll away. Black gloves are for "men" at light heavyweight to heavyweight's.
Now you're doing what the media do and giving Pacquiao these extra dimensions or attributes he doesn't have lol. Pacquiao is gonna fight his fight and dart in and out, pepper and potshot, he can't turn into Hopkins or Shane and wrestle with a Tornado on the inside. Trust me if he doesn't throw lead lefts and then skate he's going to get hunted down. Trying to bully Margarito like Mosley did is a sure way to lose, just a case of styles.
When or where did i say Pacquiao will do blow for blow exactly what Mosley did to Margarito ??? :huh:fire I have said twice i agree with what your saying , Pacquiao will simply look to box Margarito's head off while encompassing clever in out movement coupled with fast hands and solid power shots when the opportunitys present themsleves , thats it , thats the game plan , but what im saying is that Pacquiao at some point will have to play Margarito's game which is all on the inside , now looking at the way Mosley did this i wouldnt all together be suprised if Pacquiao chose to wrestle back a little with Toney , and not just break and move like Cotto did , the one thing Pacquiao wont do that Cotto did is go back in straight lines , additionally Pacquiao has a better output than Cotto and will look to pop Margarito when ever he is plodding forward ..................... To say that Pacquiao simply doesnt posess the core body strength to tussle with these bigger men is in accurate , he was stalking Cotto down blitzed Hatton and was practically walking Clottey down most of the fight too , now i know he does this by using his boxing ability , but it underlines the fact that he is simply not just an in out fighter say like a Calderon for example , Pacquiao has bullish strength and yes he will be the smaller man against Margarito and if he was to chose to just wrestle Margarito and try and do a Mosley on him , he'd a be making an easy fight more difficuilt and would probably give Margarito an angle to actually win the fight . Hope this has clarified what im trying to say :deal
He never had to get physical with Clottey he just stalked him down , on the rare occasions Clottey did take a forward step Pacquiao turned and popped off a counter , or by the later rounds stood right in front of him to try and make a fight of it . Strength wise Cotto looked like he didnt belong in the ring with Pacquiao , but thats no suprise we all know Cotto is a boxer before he's a puncher and thats not his game really .
Yeh he was ambushed by GBP what with the fight only being signed up at the mid/end of November & Margo's best payday to date of $2Million & the little matter that was kept under wraps that he also underwent eye surgery that month. He was totally weakened by the rapid weight loss is a deffinate. I was at the Cotto/Margo weigh-in & it's incredible to me when i saw him on the scales at 6ft 1in that he could hit 147. I thinks mosley's style would always have given Margo a hard fight seeing he's very strong at the weight but i was suprised at how flat margo looked & at the end of the day he's not going to turn down $2Million & after watching the Mosley/Mayorga fight he know doubt thought that regardless of cutting so much weight in too short a time he could wipe out Mosley. He called heads & it landed tails.
Margo is no Hearns but he can hit hard. Margo knows he is big and fights like he is. Intelligence ain't his thing. He ain't stupid but he can fight. Being so big always helps in the sort of fights Margo likes to create.
Everyone seems to be going against Margo. I agree Margo hasn't looked like his old self (maybe because he is fighting legally now) but I would think it is unwise for Roach and Pac to underestimate him. Margo will come to fight, whether he gets battered or not. Remember, this is Margos shot at redemption. In 36 minutes he could become the new WBC 154 champ and beat the P4P number 1! He would be a champ and back in the top 10 P4P mix.
