Only in the past two or so years can MMA claim that the best fight the best, before that it was even worse then boxing. Lets see how long the ZUFFA monopoly lasts before fighters start demanding more money.
im a old time boxer prolly 6 timez as old as u and nothin gonna replace me boxing ever u hear ??? that dont change the fact that mma waz alwayz bigger for 2000 yearz until until the britz army had their men train "standin up like men,not rollin around in the dirt like the french" so of course it caught on like wildfire and spread from there for 200 plus years and made the whites feel good about themselfz as they could fight other races and use their rules and usually beat the shyte out of the other races as their was a REF to enforce the rules and the other poor sapz hadnt trained to strickly box. all and all until the had gone and kicked other races in front of their own public boxing didnt take on in those places. as much as i love it though it only took off because those races had their arsez whooped by it and they wanted to show those arrogent colonists and britz by this time that they could whoop them at their own game witch they would never strangely get a shot if they were any good. the point im makin is mma is kicking the living crap out of boxing itz a mismatch i mean for cryin out loud floyd and toney cannot shut up about it thatz like nutz. when do you get atheletes from one sport intentionally desirering to compete in another sport to prove themselvez ? itz CRAZYNESS they say it could be the fastest decline of any sport in the history of sports. figurez and forecasts by the various industries to get a gauge on it see it actually holding fairly strong for another solid generation however after the last of the ali first hand witnessers die off it showz a nose dive into oblivion. i dont make these forecasts i hope itz not true for the love of queensbury however letz be fair for thousands of yearz before that it was basically anything goes with limited exceptionz that changed all the time for 2000 plus yearz and thatz where the money alwayz waz gentlemen to say otherwise would be to smear feces all over your own face simply to be noticed as a shyte face it doesnt mean boxing waznt great it just meanz itz timez to take off the glovez and GET IT ON i mean excuse me who are you to tell me in a fight i can KICK ? choke ? trip ? throw to the ground ? u see what im sayin cheeko ? itz time we take it back where it was for a few thousand sum odd yearz before boxing came along and was a brief champ thatz right everyone MMA is BACK and itz OVER roll ova clova and let MMA take ova ha im juz messin round hammered with my boxing buddies i actaully dont care i like them both. both can be great and both can be ****
By never co-promoting they never put on some huge fights, its a long list and if you were a fan back then you would know.
But my point was that the big in house fights were made. In boxing, it is only recently that Top Rank, GBP and maybe Frank Warren have started making big in hosue fights. This was only done because they finally realised boxing was dying.
if it is true that in house matches by gbp and top rank are in response to the threat of boxings demise dont you think they are making maters worse? pac vs marg, though I think it will be entertaining is really not the best fight that can be made for pac at this time. that fight would be timothy bradley.
i think pac vs margo is interesting but margo is a cheater who should be shunned. bradley or alexander at 140 would be pretty interesting but he'd be a huge favourite. JMM vs Pac III is a 50-50 fight in the fans eyes. That is the fight that should be made. Some people have JMM 2-0 versus Pac. In boxing co-promotions are happening. I'm saying it used to be so bad that even in house big fights were not made. That isn't really the case now and we are seeing fights like Pac vs Margo made quite easily.
va fangulu!!!! This content is protected I would in fact like to see a third machup between marquez and pac I think it would help end the stain of some peoples image of pac avoiding that matchup. I also think it would make an entertaining fight, just as the first two were. manny is my favorite at the moment and marquez is not to far behind so I would love that fight!
absolutely rediculous statement... its like saying one of boxings all time greatest boxers was actually a WWE referee (mike tyson) just ebcause brock lesnar chose to go into the wwe doesnt mean thats his f*kin skill set the man is a division 1 college wrestling champion... he has genuine MMA credentials the fact people just keep bringin up the fact he was a professional wrestler to slag off the ufc is just pathetic & makes no sense
That would explain why all the market research suggests that American UFC fans are on average richer than either boxing or pro-wrestling fans.
Again well spotted, I mean who wants to see old geezers like Brock Lesnar (33), Rashad Evans (30), Quinton Jackson (32), George St. Pierre (29), BJ Penn (31) etc, etc. And I remember people saying that the UFC couldn't create any stars of its own to replace Randy Couture, Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock. And its true that 2007 was a slightly more difficult year on pay per view, but by 2008 they were firing on all cylinders the likes of GSP, Brock Lesnar, Frank Mir, Rashad Evans, Forrest Griffin all becoming huge stars. They then did the same in 2009 with the likes of Anderson Silva, BJ Penn, Lyoto Machida, Shogun Rua all capturing the imagination of the mainstream audience. And then they did it again this year with the likes of Dan Hardy, Chael Sonnen, Shane Carwin all going from relative obscruity to headliner multi-million pay per views. But yeah, its a shame they can't create new stars.
