Against Sanders and Arreola he literally, literally turns his back while booking off the ropes. Just real amateurish ****. :-(

What this division needs is a WBC/WBA unification fight between Shannon Briggs and Audley Harrison. It could happen.

Good thing he isnt a used-up Mike Dokes, a Herbie Hide, a Henry Akinwande, Scott Frank, Evangelista, Leon Spinks, Hurricane Jackson, Ron Stander, Brian London or any other of a multitude of crappy fighters to get a shot at the title in the last 50 years.

This fight is only relevant in historic terms because Briggs is a former lineal champion.

A bit like if a totaly shot Jimmy Braddock had gone for one last payday.

I think its a bit more relevant than that. Briggs is a former alphabet champion who can punch. He is fighting a current champion who has been on a roll.

Haye is backing out of fights, and Harrison is a never was.

The press conference and stare down will be entertaining here, and the fans are pretty much guaranteed a knockout.

Unfortunately, neither Haye or Valuev wants to get in the ring with Vitali.

Watch it closely in slow motion, Lewis forces Vitali down, flops on him, then pushes off to get up. It was a punk move. I do think Steward guidance in the corner helped Lewis.

Vitali is likley the best 39 year old heavy of all time. I think he got a few more fights left if he wants them.

This is Briggs's third (or fourth) title shot though. He never beat a single top 10 contender to earn a shot at the title, while losing to the likes of Darroll Wilson, Jameel McCline and Sedreck Fields.

Eh, not a real title fight.

Its pretty meaningless overall but its not like Vitali hasn't been trying to get top 10 fighters or other belt holders. I guess you have to credit Briggs for actually taking a fight with the number two fighter in the world while Haye, Adamek, Povetkin, Valuev, and Solis take tune ups or sit on their thumbs.

Oh please don't try and put positive spin on this debacle.
Briggs was lineal Champion 13 YEARS AGO, and lost it in his first defence being dropped 3 times before being stopped.

Briggs last "opponent " was Rob Calloway, Harrison stopped him 6YEARS AGO breaking his jaw.

Briggs last decent win was a last ditch ko over Liakhovich in a fight he was comprehensively losing.
That was 4 YEARS AGO he has been positively tested for steroids and has beaten no ranked fighter to earn a title shot .The man retired for 2 1/2 years.

I could put spin on Harrison in the same fashion ,and say he holds a ko win over Danny Williams , true but irrelevant.

Haye won't fight either Klit if ,[should he win ] , he has to tie himself up to a commitment of two title defences under their K2 promotional banner with them selecting the opponent,ie which ever Klit he beats ,in a rematch ,then the other brother .

You take nut hugging to a new level.

-Oh wow, the infamous SLAVE contract that would force Haye to back up his mouth and beat both brothers..which he agreed to.

-There were no options on the last contact btw. The dispute was over tv rights because 50/50 against the recongized Champion just isn't good enough for Mr. David Haye. There were no complaints over rematch clauses. Also....after reaching the apex with his win over Ruiz..Haye feels he deserves to evidently take off most the year if not the rest of it.

I am referring to the original clauses that K2 inserted. Why should have Have to fight a rematch immediately then should he win fight the other brother in his first defence?
This contract was shown in a two page article in a boxing mag.
I don't try and justify Haye fighting Harrison, so please nobody do the same for Vitali taking on a shot Briggs.
If you think Briggs is a worthy challenger, thats your prerogative.

Briggs has a very good chance in this fight. He needs to be in top shape to fight 5 or 6 rounds and he can win. He brings the type of fight that Vitali hates and I dont think he punches hard enough to keep Briggs off if Briggs can bring a strong offensive fight. The fight is interesting for 4-5 rounds.
