would love to see Peter get KOed. despite his poor showing against McCline, Peter has never been legitimately knocked Out... would be rather momentous.
If fighter A has superior skills, power, ring intelligence and size and fighter B has the toughness to potentially exploit the only weakness in the other, I would always assume that fighter B's chance is the first match. A fighter with more ability will usually win rematches (Wlad - Brewster, Lennox - Rahman).
I'm hoping Wlad goes in trying to KO Peter early to make a statement. Steward has to be in Wlad's ear about this fight cementing the public's view on him. This was the last man to give Wlad any trouble, destroying him early sends a huge message to anyone doubting his status and dominance. It would also be a huge FU to HBO for not showing his fights.
Peter will either quit, or Wlad will win by UD. Wlad will be cautious. This is a fight where we should not blame him for being boringly cautious. He remembers falling down a lot last time. All this talk about Wlad making a statement...it's bull. Wlad does not care about making statements. He cares about winning, or more importantly, not-losing. The guy sells out stadiums and makes millions doing what he does. So, Americans don't like him; oh well, he's not going to change. He's had plenty of opportunites to try and fight in a more endearing style and yet, it's always the same Wlad...the one American don't care about.. the one that clinches excessively and paws...holds his hand out to keep people away... The one that WINS. Wlad will do nothing but jab and grab in this fight. This will frustrate Peter and after he senses that he can't win, he'll give up, or maybe he'll tough it out and Wlad will win by UD.
That's a good point. Obviously, the better, more versatile fighter benefits more from a rematch because he can take what he learned in the first bout and adjust his style accordingly. But the more limited fighter really doesn't benefit all that much because he has fewer tools at his disposable and less ability to make the necessary adjustments. :good
I agree with most of what you've sad. But I do think we have seen a bit more urgency of late in both Klitschko and the Klitschko corner. Obviously, we saw it in the Eddie Chambers fight. Sure, Chambers was not a banger, but Wlad has now seen the result of being a bit more agressive when he has a guy hurt. And if he hurts Peter in this fight, I have a sneaking suspicion that he'll go after him..
