I am just discovering Eduardo Lausse, and I had no idea that he decked a young Gene Fullmer enroute to winning a decision. How would this all-Argentine contest go, scheduled, as always for 15 rounds, and let's just add, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to boot.
I'm just discovering him too...I need to see more of his fights! I'm a fan because of his style and power. The fight with him and Fullmer was something else...IMO Monzon would clearly decision Lausse...But Lausse would have his moments, if Briscoe could rock Carlos, then Lausse certainly could as well! He was quite an aggressive puncher...and appears to be very strong physically...Anyone would is strong enough to back up Fullmer, is something to contend with!:good
I think, naturally that Monzon would have beaten him, most likely on a late round tko, and would have decked him along the way, but I think it would have had it's moments of danger for Carlos as well. A big puncher like Lausse would have commanded Monzon's respect and and he would have taken no chances with Eduardo, being the clever master that he was. It would have resulted in Monzon wearing down his man with a steady stream of right hands, which would have forced a stoppage in 13 or 14.
Seems like a good time to bump this one. Just for fun. Oddly enough, I never even considered this one when pondering dream bouts at middleweight (something I do often). Go figure.
A dream match for action would be Eduardo Lausse against Julian jackson. Not for the faint hearted In think...Both, for whatever reasons just fell short of greatness...But what a fight that would have been...
