Yeah, and Ali pretty much tortured him all the way. he has a championship heart, no doubt. But Marciano should rank above him, that's a given...
    -He ranks above Patterson H2H
    -undefeated
-defeated opponents like Louis, Charles, walcott, and Moore. 4 ATGs.

He may rank above Patterson, however....
Louis was Shot. Take that one off.

Where were the rest at as far as "prime"?

By the time Patterson filled out, do you think Patterson would have lost to any of the versions that Rocky was able to face?

Louis was not shot. he wasn't at his best for sure but he wasn't shot.he gave Marciano a decent fight and got in a few punches. and he lasted 8 rounds (I think)
Walcott was as prime as he couldve been, and fought a hell of a fight.
Charles gave Marciano a very tough fight and punched him up.
Moore wasn't really prime but he still knocked down Moore so I give him a lot of credit for that and giving Marciano a good fight. at least this version of Moore was better then the one Patterson fought.
yes, I think Patterson loses to Walcott, and to Charles. Moore he KOs again, but Louis would give him a very tough fight. I don't know, this Louis was still very game and could hit like a truck.

Why should we take Louis off? He was the # 2 rated heavyweight contender in the world when Marciano beat him. He also was 4" taller and 35lb heavier.

Are you suggesting we should take out every # 2 rated contender beaten from every resume?

I like Walcott of Marciano I over Patterson by decision or KO.

I think Charles of Marciano I vs Patterson is a 50/50 pickem fight.

I think Louis gives floyd problems with his size, savvy, and left jab...but floyd eventually wears joe down and uses his speed to outhustle him for a decision win. bad styles matchup for Floyd. Louis might put floyd on the floor too.

Moore of 1955 gives Patterson a closer fight.

Lastarza might give patterson an interesting scrap, I like floyd Late

Layne might give patterson a brief scare, but I favor Floyd by KO.

No way Floyd runs the table. He would find a way to lose somewhere. He was not consistent enough like Rocky.

When he fought Marciano he was Shot.
That may say something about Marciano as well as how a match-up would have gone had Louis been at his peak.

Why was he better than the one Patterson fought a year later?

After all, the way Suzie puts it, Moore did win 11-0 with 8 wins by KO/TKO going into the Patterson fight. Where's the dip? ;)

So, now, Marciano scores an 9th round KO over Archie Moore in 1955.

What does that say about all the other losses, specifically KO losses, and sooner, that Moore suffered prior to Marciano?
How much more credit should those fighters get compared to when Marciano finally got him?

    Shot Louis loses to Patterson.

As for the rest, I'll leave you with this:

Of course, this would be after Marciano fought them however, Dan Florio's words are interesting.

By the time Patterson filled out, I would favor him over all of them. The past prime version of Charles, past prime version of Walcott, and Shot version of Louis. Moore fight would be relatively the same.
However, Walcott in that first fight with Marciano as well as Charles in that first fight with Marciano, do have a shot at beating Patterson as well. After all, Walcott and Charles were very tough fights for Marciano and although Patterson is a different style fighter, even at that point, they were no walk-overs. I think Walcott might have the best shot. He has the ability to hurt Patterson if he lands a great shot.
