I'm talking about when Nunn became his mandatory back in 97.
Nunn was very past prime, no doubt but he still had something left in the tank, This is a vid of Nunn when he fought Graciano for the WBC LHW belt which Jones vacated:

I'm not talking about that time period, but later on. Even though Nunn was very past prime he would of still put up a better fight that some of Jones's other mandos at the time
I wouldn't say he was past prime by the Toney fight, although he was definitely past prime by the Cordoba fight

No, its not. Nunn was his mandatory for his WBC belt in 1997, those other guys were not his mandatories and he had no obligation to fight them.

Yes, this is the timeline I'm talking about. Was there ever any serious negotiations for a Jones-Douglas fight?

The above "post" is what happens when you have NO boxing knowledge whatsoever to come back with when someone owns you.

You feel aggrieved that Jones didn't fight Nunn in '97?? Crazy. It would have been a total mismatch. If that fight had happened then, everyone would now use it against Jones for fighting a guy at least 6 years past his best.

Nunn wasn't past-prime by the Toney fight; he was never the same after Toney though.

I never said I felt any particular way about the situation. He was his mandatory and just as good as the past prime version of Reggie Johnson and McCallum that Jones faced.
They may have to do with the whole drug scene that he got into

If you don't have any opinion on the matter, then why have you made a thread about it? :huh

I don't have an opinion on the matter because I don't have all the facts, which is why I was asking for people to fill me in and someone mentioned that Jones was thinking of fighting Douglas at the time. Its you that came here making all kinds of assumptions not me.

You asked why the fight didn't happen. I said it didn't happen because Nunn was years past his sell-by date by the time the fight was viable. Question, answered. Where's the problem, if you have no opinion on the matter?

They both supposedly signed a contract for May 98, but Jones quickly pulled out after speaking to his dad. It was probably already scrapped by the time the fans read about it.

Why are you being ignorant for? I'm talking about when he became Jones's MANDATORY for his LHW belt in 1997. If you read the quote I posted up you would of known I couldn't of been talking about 94-96, because Jones never had a WBC belt during that time period. Whether Nunn was past his sell by date or not has nothing to do with it, either.

Off topic: How on earth did Toney's prime end in 94?
