Anyone know the score? Does he keep the belt and leave the tournament with it, or does Froch AA become a fight for it? If the belt leaves, the super six only has the WBA belt leaving the rest of the tournament kinda pointless.
WBC Super Middleweight Top 15 1. Andre Dirrell 2. Carl Froch 3. Arthur Abraham 4. Kelly Pavlik 5. Brian Magee 6. Librado Andrade 7. Marcus Johnson 8. Paul Smith 9. Pablo Farias 10. Allan Green 11. Fulgencio Zuñiga 12. Nikola Sjekloca 13. Kingsley Ikeke 14. Anthony Dirrell 15. Evert Bravo Its likley the WBC make Froch vs Abraham for the vacant title. It was already down as a final eliminator.
From Kessler's point of view, he should keep it and ask the WBC for an extension to the 9 month a champ has to defend the belt. This is routinely done in the face of an injury.
They stated that it will be vacated but they applied for Kessler being champion emeritus with the WBC like Vitali was. Meaning that he can come back anytime and fight the current WBC champion
Yeah for me i hope he vacates it. Its a shame for a fighter to lose a belt without being beat, but these things happen. I hope he fully recovers from the injury. But for the good boxing and the tournament, he needs to vacate it.
wasnt the point of the super6 to unify belts as well as get the best fighters in the division in with each other?
Pretty dumb it seems. Wit hthe belt he has leverage of when and where... as emeritus he has no leverage and no control over anything.
If it was in their contracts that a pull out results in retirement, then Kessler should defiantly vacate as a bargain.
For the good og Super Six it is great that the belt becomes vacant. Great to see so many threads without any namecalling and/or finger pointing:good :happy
