Already two rounds in, cant replace fighters now. You wouldnt be able to earn enough points to advance. atsch Well, I think we all knew how this would end.
It's a shame, the tournament was an innovative idea and we've had some excellent matchups and good fights. Hopefully Froch-Abraham, at least, will still happen.
surely it just adds to the drama. its a shame about kessler, but **** happens, the world keeps spinning, and all the fighters move on. this shouldn't be used as an excuse for further tournaments not to be made. the S6 has still brought 7 great boxers together and forced some really good match ups. its elavated dirrell and ward quicker than they could have dreamt. it introduced abrahams to a wider audience, furthered frochs career, provided kessler with a platform for a big comeback, gave taylor one last shot and gave green a shot at the big time. some of these matchups would probably have never been made without the super 6. i really don't see how this screws anything. its just another twist.
everybody is wise after the event. it was never doomed from the start. sure, it was a big idea and it would have its problems, but lets not pretend we all knew this was going to happen.
Green had no chance of making the semis anyway...all this does is let Dirrell in, win or lose (and he will lose). Now, Ward can trash his friend in the ring guilt-free. Kessler doesn't have a choice...should he lose vision in that eye almost altogether like former HW Calvin Brock? He needs to be careful.
Sorry but to say the tournament is on its end is nonsense. They make Ward-Dirrel and Abraham-Froch the semis and everyone will be pleased and excited....
The idea of just making round 3 into the semi-finals makes sense. No point in dragging it out if Kessler is out.
I think green will get a by and be awarded 3 points. if that happens, how does it affect the semi-final picture?
Maybe if Denmark judges scored the Froch/Kessler fight correctly for Froch then this wouldnt be such a big deal.
