I dont think JMM will get as many people there as Barrera did, I think the Hamed fight helped the numbers there.

As for PPV in the UK, Sky didn't even bother picking up his last fight with Malignaggi and it was on ITV, so it's going to have to be a big fight to get them interested.

HBO stumped up the purse? :huh Khan took a paycut for the fight to happen. I don't know anything about HBO putting the purse up.

From what I heard from Khan's manager was that the attendance was just under 15,000 in 3 weeks. So I don't know.

Come on, Sky didn't pick it up because Khan wouldn't do good PPV figures at 4AM. Not because they weren't interested. That's bull****. Why do they put up other domestic fights? Are they 'Interested' in them?

Sky didn't take it in the end because they went with the Mitchell-Katsidis showdown at Upton Park so it was given to ITV in the end.

Yep. Khan fought Salita in Newcastle where he's never fought as amatuer or proffesional and sold the arena out very fast from what I heard.

I think a 50/50 split is fair. Maybe 60/40 in Khan's favour if it's taking place here in the UK.

But it would be interesting to know how much Marquez priced himself out by. Considering him and his team have never been too confident in their chances against Khan, I bet they put forth an offer that was as ridiculous as their recent 50/50 demand against Pacquiao.

 

Absolutely fascinating from Khan. Honestly i find all this *****-footing around in the press from Alexander, Bradley, and Khan rivetting. Maybe after a couple more years of "build up" they will actually fight eachother. :thumbsup

 

50/50 is more than fair. Khan is a draw in the UK and he has a decent following in the states but JMM is by far more well known as far as the US. Even if the fight happened in the UK the purse should be split down the middle and the revenue recv'd at the gate could be split in favor of Amir....but the PPV's and the purse should be 50/50. JMM is a legend in the sport....Khan should have a bit more understanding but he is about his Money like anther boxer we know.

 

They don't get to show the fights for free you know. $1.5 million for Khan/Malignaggi (well that's the official number, there is also suspicion that a slice of the $750 they paid for the Ortiz/Campbell undercard fight also went to the main event...)

Also, people citing attendance figures need to bear in mind that, in the US especially, attendance figures can be radically higher than the number of paid tickets actually sold.

You won't need to wait. JMM just said he wants to stay at 135. So we'll be seeing Khan-Maidana on December 11th.

 

Yep, this I agree with. 50/50 PPV, and Khan can recieve the bigger split at the gates (if in the UK).

But this talk is pointless, as I've just read that JMM will be staying at 135 to fight Katsidis. Khan will now have no other option than to take on Maidana or Ortiz. More likely to be the former.
