Those butts sure didn't help Kessler's eye. I'm a Ward fan, but he gotta do something about those butts. You can badly hurt someone with that **** if it's consistent enough.
And none of them were caused by the multiple massive right and lefts that he landed on Kesslers face throughout the night? If he leads with his head, then an experienced well schooled fighter could take advantage of it. Ward rested his head on Greens chest and went to work, its Greens fault he couldnt take advantage. It is not ILLEGAL to rest your head on a fighters chest. Dont act like Dirrell wasnt hated on after the Froch fight. His boxing like Wards infighting was called unfair. "he ran" "he's a coward" ect ect Its a fact that the European fighters were heavy favorites going into the super six. The fact that Dirrell and Ward massively outclassed them in their own way has got people pissed. Neither did anything wrong. Not saying you were apart of this group but there was a healthy bias before the tourney began.
ward deserves his props. he beat kessler simple as. if headbutts were the real issue the cards would have been comptetive. im not convinced on him yet and think he will lose to dirrell.
Well - I dont know what Ward is thinking but I do know that he leads with his head. I simply dont like boxers who rushes in, head first. It is no good to the sport.
Headbutts happen, I wouldnt say Ward cheated. As was already said, when you have a southpaw(which he was for most of the fight) against an orthodox fighter, clashes of heads are bound to happen, and also the fact that he was trying to fight on the inside. I understand where people are coming from when they say he's cheating but I dont think so.
Ward owned him..say what u want..make the excuses...I like Mikkel..but Ward just battered him up and was the better fighter
Please stop making bull**** statements like that. I have seen the fight - and I still have it right here.
People need to understand that there's a difference between cheating & fouling. Just about EVERY fighter has something questionable they do in the ring (Ali holding behind the head, etc). As far as holding, that's apart of the sport look at older fights some fighters such as Jack Johnson did it and nothing's wrong with it. BTW, Im a huge Tyson fan and headbutts or not Holyfield beat Tyson's ass. No excuses on my part.
uh, he really doesn't... he boxes his way in from the outside and shuts his opponent down with infighting, a more mobile hopkins. He uses his head at that range to maneuver for position and leverage. I find it actually disheartening that you think a fighter with a skillset as complete as andre ward is somehow bad for the sport. the fact that people are even complaining about his tactics as much as they are is another death knell for the lost arts of infighting. for shame.
Ward fought a dirty fight against Kessler. There's not a doubt about that. While none of the five headbutts he landed were absolutely intentional, he was completely reckless with the head and should have been taken to task or had points deducted. That said, I think Ward would have won that fight without using his head, and I don't think the injuries he inflicted on Kessler had anything to do with Kessler's current injury.
