There was a PuertoRican OLympic boxer named Luis Ortiz who fought Pernell Whitaker for the Gold medal at the 84 Olympics, lost by KO against Whitaker in round 2. It says that Luis Ortiz' Silver medal to this day is Puerto Rico's highest accomplishments in OLympic Boxing...

He tried pro boxing but failed...:good

We have a good olympic tradition, but PR fighters are taught from day 1 the "real" way to fight. We are shown to punch through not punch just to get points.

Mano, the Cubans punch to get points but also KO people. Cuban amateurs also have a very high KO percentage, Rigondeaux used to KO boxers with 1 punch, just like he is doing now in the pros. Also, the great Cuban amateurs " always " have a high KO ratio and examples include: Stevenson, Savon, Ariel Hernandez, Sierra, Lemus, Rigondeaux, Gamboa, Herrera, Espinosa, Horta etc and countless of others...:good

I really doubt that, since he started at the pros he has fought at no more than 237 pounds and actually went down to 233lbs in his last 2 fights, the perfect weight for a 6'4 HV...

    Solis should learn from Ortiz...:patsch

Thanks for the vids, I had seen the amateur ones but not his sparring. Man, was he going slow with McCall? He looked slow, but maybe it was because he is just sparring and wanted to practice...:good

Sorry, I missed the first link...Yeah, now he looks completely different in the fight. He is fast and powerful, but there is only less than 1 minute of the fight so it's hard to actually see how good he is...But he certainly looks tall, technical, powerful and experienced to make it far.

I think he's got enough to whip Wlad and Fury and Wilder. Does that make him great?

I don't hold any of those guys in very high regard, so probably not. At least in my book.
