When I first watched it (live) I had it extremely close and couldn't decide who won. I thought they both had a shitty performance and would have been fine with a draw. Upon second viewing, and when I actually scored it I had it 8-4 for Dirrell. I'm not sure of the rounds, but the reason I had it a little wider than most is because I'm very reluctant to score a round even.

But to answer your question, yes I feel it was a close fight (that Dirrell should have won) and there should be a rematch.

So we throw ring generalship out the window do we ? or pressing the fight ?
it's not as black and white as landing more and not getting as hit as much this isn't the olympics.

You cant claim to have won a round if you have been on the retreat the entire round or clinching and only landed say 5 good blows when the other guys landed only 1 or 2 but has pressed the action the entire round.

If that were the case there wouldn't be any boxing as both fighters would be running away or tieing up for 2 minutes 50 seconds every round.

You HAVE to give it to the guy pressing the action in close rounds in my book.

I haven't seen a world title challenger this scared since Tyson vs Spinks.
I had Dirrell up with 1 point on my scorecard, but I felt he didn't deserve to win it no matter what my card said! It was the first time I was happy with the result, with the other fighter getting the nod. Dirrell made a fool out of himself that night.

    1) It was very close.
    2) It was one of the worst 'fights' I've ever seen.
    3) Dirrell f*ck*d it up himself!

Ring Generalship?. Dirrell made froch look like he had never been in a ring. It's not retreat, It's moving so the slow plodding fighter can't set himself. Dirrell wanted to move and froch wanted bum rush, and since they both did what they want to: you got to give it to the guy who got more out of his gameplan. That is ring generalship. Not throwing airball flurries to get the crowd screaming advantage.

You have to give it to the guy who gets the results and that is CLEAN EFFECTIVE punches landed. The cheif piece of scoring criteria that filters down to the others. The other stuff about style of fight is out the window. If froch wasn't so limited he could have maybe hit dirrell. It was his own lack of things that caused him to not be able to touch dirrell. That's not dirrell's fault. He used his superior god given talent which froch had no answers for but to get desperated and dirty.

It's not like dirrell turned his back and ran around the ring the whole time. When he stood infront of froch, Froch did nothing and was very tentative to swing. Froch would only throw his airball flurries when dirrell was cornered in full defense mode and still couldn't touch the kid. Who thinks it's easy to not get hit in the ring? Like I said. Froch couldn't hit him whether dirrell was standing still, moving or being agressive with him. Froch won because the crowd's unconditional cheering for froch's airball flurries fooled the judges who can't tell what is landing. The strategy froch used was blatant from the first round on.

Clean Effective punching: Dirrell By a mile. Froch maybe landed 6 powershots upstairs while being hit by 40 blatant power shots from dirrell.

Ring Generalship: Dirrell :Froch was looking like a desperate man who had never been in a ring before while dirrell was executing a gameplan.

Effective Agression: Dirrell. Dirrell got more out of his lack of agression than froch got out of his constant agression.

    Defense::lol::lol::lol: .

Wow .. the way u sayin it can't be scored is exactly how u score it ... for example u have 2 fighters .. fighter A lands 5 decent shots per round and runs all 12 rounds while throwing less .. fighter B lands 2 decent punches per round while pressing the attack for 12 rounds and throwing more ... who do u score the fight for? Fighter b lands 24 punches while fighter A lands 60 ... how could fighter A have lost ...

If both fighters didn't do anything in a round u score it for the aggressor ... if its a close round u score it for the person who inflicted more damage ... u have to respect the sport ... u have boxers who move and others who come foward ... are u going 2 give points to the guy who comes foward for his style? that's put the other guy in a disadvantage before the fiight even began ...

Look its this simple .. u judge by what goes on in between those four corners .. if 1 guy uses the whole ring to get his Wins then so be it ... if its such a problem find a smaller ring so he doesn't run so much or step ur 'cut the ring off' game up

So basically you didnt count Dirrells solidly landed counter shot. But you did count Froch's jab's which missed completely.

Did anyone teach you what clean effective punching was? You basically gave Froch a round where he landed 1 clean effective punch. Good job.

They will most likely fight again, especially after they both get beat in there next fights.

Dan Rafael of espn scored it for Froch, which makes me think Dirrell did win a close fight.
