From UFC article by Backpage BPL:

'In the other heavily promoted fight on the card, ‘has-been’ boxing champion, James ‘Lights-Out’ Toney, in his first ever MMA fight, is set to be slaughtered by UFC legend Randy Couture'.

'In contrast, the James Toney v Randy Couture fight can only be described as a total mismatch. The fact that UFC boss Dana White has set Toney’s first fight against a legend like Couture tells us that White has no long-term aspirations for Toney’s career. Rather, he has booked what will almost certainly be a ‘squash-match’ in order to make the point that professional boxers with no MMA experience are unfit to step foot in the Octagon.

Not only is Toney lacking in the necessary skills, he is also looking out of shape. Essentially, he’s a middleweight boxer who’s unhealthily eaten his way to heavyweight status. Unfortunately, this will not be every fans dream boxing vs. MMA clash – that would involve either a champion boxer at the top of his game (e.g. Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather Jr.), or otherwise, Iron Mike Tyson.

Expect Couture to shoot at Toney’s legs and take him down early and finish the fight on the ground. Toney’s only chance is that Couture first tries to stand with him just to challenge himself, giving Toney the chance to land a knockout punch. Either way, I guarantee that this fight will end in the first round'.

I'd like to see Toney knock him out. A bit of a freakshow match up by the UFC IMO.

    yep.

basic boxing skills often gets UFC fighters a ko, or at least a win.

it will be interesting to see how a real boxer, even if he is a decade past his prime, sticks it too one of these roid munching pretend boxers.

it will only take coture to miss a takedown, or get himself in a bad position trying such and he will get KO'd...

otherwise, if Coture gets the takedown, Toney is in MASSIVE TROUBLE!!!

Yeah, granted Toney will likely have a short window of opportunity as Couture takes him down.

If he can't stun Couture with some heavy punches right then though. It's the floor, the pain and a quick & simple submission.

Toney on the ground will be like a cat in a swimming pool!

$1.11 looks better than bank interest for Couture imo, he'll go straight for the tackle and it'll be a submission in about 20secs.:patsch

    Hope i'm wrong

Yeah, I can't see Toney pulling this one off. Courture is a class MMA fighter and will end it extremely quickly imo. Toney's talking this one up, but he's bitten off more than he can chew.

Some time during the first round Couture takes Toney to the ground and Toney WON'T be able to get back up. If Toney makes it into the 2nd or 3rd round he will have to demonstrate some incredible heart.

IMO Couture by either ground n pound or submission late 1st or early 2nd round.

Watched quite a few MMA matches now. Like boxing, it's good to watch.

James Toney has his work cut for him but there's never been anyone that could box at Toney's level in the UFC. And there's been a few boxers who have had some degree of success in MMA. It will be an interesting fight.
