Was a close one for sure. Even Joe was unsure if he won (just look at his face directly after the fight and the desperate speeches from his dad between the rounds). Hops made the fight ugly, but that´s just the way he fights. Watching the fight a second time I gave Slopps Joe the win by one point.

Clearly won the fight, no. I had B-Hop up by 1 point. I guess we can say that the fight could've gone either way, and the result reflects this. There should've been a rematch, but Calzaghe didn't want it.

Calzaghe made Hopkins look like an old man.

It was pretty clear - even American TV called it for Joe.

B-Hop was just cheating towards the end.

The B-Hop KD was legit but the RJJ was some weird forearm smash that caught Calzaghe off balance.

I'm not even a calazghe fan, i actually dislike the guy. But for hopkins to say he will never lose to a white boy, then get outworked for the majority of the fight is laughable. No way did hopkins deserve even a draw that night.

    The CompuBox statistics,

Calzaghe landed 232 of 707 punches (33 percent) to Hopkins' 127 of 468 (27 percent).

It was the most punches ever landed on Hopkins in any of the more than a dozen fights of his that CompuBox has tracked.:deal

Scored it for Calzaghe by one point on first viewing iirc.

Scorecards would have been wider if Hopkins dive to the floor when he hadn't been touched in the 11th (I think) in an attempt to win a points deduction after Calzaghe had been warned for one low blow had been correctly counted as a knockdown by infirm and unfair Joe Cortez.

Actually im a white British boy. But, I don't let my judgements on people be determined by race, unlike yourself. Calzaghe was clearly beaten.

    Calzaghe won this fight.

It's funny how the pro-Hopkins crowd put it down to Hopkins simply not bothering to throw many punches, at the same time they claim Calzaghe landed nothing.

Regardless of how clumsy his punching style appears, it put enough pressure on Hopkins to cause him discomfort and start faking fouls to get a break in the later rounds.

Calzaghe adjusted to Hopkins offence and increased the pace of the fight after 4 rounds, and Hopkins couldn't keep up.

Terrible, terrible fight. I gave Hopkins the first 4 rounds, and Calzaghe 6 of the last 8 rounds. 2 rounds even. Calzaghe wins 115 - 114

Hopkins landed the cleaner punches particularly in the first few rounds. But he hardly threw anything after round 4. Calzaghe applied more pressure but was largely ineffective. Still, he did more than Hopkins after round 4.

Calzaghe was the moral victor. Hopkins blatantly cheated, and should have been disqualified or had points deducted.

Without taking an unlawful break in rounds 10 and 11, Hopkins would have been battered through rounds 10 - 12.

I had Hopkins winning. That's because clean and effective punching is what impresses me, not pitter patter flurry slaps that land only on arms and gloves.

The most ones that made you go "Oh, that was a nice shot", all belonged to old man Bernard. He put more hurt on his opponent, no doubt about it.

The only thing Calzaghe was superior in, was work-rate. That's it. Even his ***** of a dad had Hopkins winning, and when that final bell went, Calzaghe's face screamed..."****, I think I've lost this".

I don't remember how I scored the fight but my initial reaction when it finished was that Hopkins had won.

And you can ignore the avatar, I was actually supporting Calzaghe that night.

It was a close fight with many rounds difficult to score but with the KD in the first round I just gave it to Hopkins.

If you scored the fight purely on effort Calzaghe wins. He gave it everything he had. Unfortunately for him that's not how it works and you can see that Joe realised that himself at the end too.

I heard Hopkins saying something along the lines of ''Compare how Roy Jones lost to Calzaghe compared to my fight with Calzaghe''.

In light of Calzaghe's domination of Jones, I think that Hopkins is more willing to admit the truth................that he lost a close, ugly decision.
