Emanuel Steward says “Catchweights should be looked at, especially with Pacquiao. He has been fighting guys, but doesn’t weigh in at the same weight limit that he has challenged them at. I think this should be addressed.”

When going for titles. I think if you can agree on a catchweight fair enough...but titles should not be involved.

    :?

Pacquiao has never weighed in over the weight limit for any fight.

Exactly :good. Fighters should not be able to make catchweights when a belt at a specific weight is on the line regardless of their stature. I'm not 1 of these people that think this is why pacquiao beat cotto but he could have saved himself a lot of bother by never asking for it

i dont like these catchweight for title fights but hey if Cotto and Margo both sign the dotted line then its there problem but knowing that they are both arum fighters on the slide you know they pretty much have to sign it or arum will ditch them or screw them later

I also dont like how he has the clauses where Cotto and Oscar couldnt rehydrate over night and had to be 147 the night of which pretty much has them cut down and then stay weak

What a coincidence. I have, for the truth, long thought that Steward was jealous of Pacquiao coming up and blasting people out... like, "damn if only I could find another Hearns to put on this guy." Don't pay any attention to him. Listen to what Hagler says. Destruct! Destroy!

Good thing there is no bloody proof he did that and it is in fact incredibly unlikely. For one it is unlikely the commision would allow a contract to have that stipulation since it could be dangerous. But more then that it makes no sense why ODLH the ****ing golden boy would agree to such a thing. Yes Pac a minor draw at the time somehow got DLH to agree to a rehydration clause. Do you realize how stupid that is. DLH could fight anyone he wanted and cash in so why would he agree to something that could end up hospitalizing him?

Hatton apparently had the rehydration clause too...

Sorry, I'm not quite sure what Steward is saying here. Does he mean that if it's a catchweight fight of 150....then Pacquiao should be weighing in at exactly 150? No less?

    :huh

Yep. Thats what I didn't like about the Cotto v Pacquiao bout. They agreed on the catchweight, fair enough...but when everything was signed (as far as I am aware)...Team Pacquiao demanded Cotto's title be on the line when they had shown no interest in it in the first place. Cotto was backed into a corner.
