My goal on these forums has been to promote discussion and activity in Classic. Basically, to contribute to the forum. So here's another contribution... Pieces from the pictures I've saved over that last some odd years, the ones that I consider among the best. Please keep this thread free of other uploads, I'm looking to unload a ton of my material and nothing but. Thanks. Enjoy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I forget the fighters, but the man on the canvas died shortly afterwards. Lights beaming into the area illuminate the ring. One of the best boxing photographs of all time in my opinion. This content is protected Harold Johnson and Joe Louis. This content is protected A rare sight. Monzon badly stunned against the murderous punching Bennie Briscoe. This content is protected Henry Milligan celebrating. A tidbit. "He entered the 1984 U.S. Olympic trials seeded first in the 201 pound class, despite weighing only 184 pounds, but lost in the semi-finals to 17-year-old Mike Tyson on June 9, 1984. Milligan was leading on points when Tyson stopped him in the second round." Wonderful pictures to behold 1 The first one is Luther McCarty, dying after Arthur Pelky dropped him in the first round.McCarty a short time before fell off a horse, and wasa killed from a light punch from Pelkey..He was considered a future heavyweight champ, but fate intervened !!!
pelky was managed by tommy burns who i think promoted the fight and burns and pelky were in trouble with the law for a while over the ring death (i think)
the pelkey-mccarty photo was faked. The shaft of light is an area that was overexposed for dramatic effect. Its a nice story but its phoney.

I can't seem to get photos to show up hear. The best Photograph I have ever seen is Hy Peskin's photo of the aftermath of the Carmen Basilio/ Tony DeMarco Welterweight Championship. It used to be my Avatar. When I say the best Photo I have ever seen I am not just talking about boxing photos. This content is protected
Where was O'Grady cut in that picture? Looks like his forehead is split open. Man did Rahman get hit hard in the Lewis rematch.
I'm assuming the Harold Johnson photo must be from the late 1940's. He's in tremendous shape and looks like he was carved out of marble, there wouldn't have been steroids around either. Fighting from 1946 to 1971 it would interesting to hear his opinions on the 40's, 50' and 60's and who really was the best heavyweight.
