The loss to McCall motivated to improve Lewis.
The loss to Rahman, is somewhat inexcusable. Lewis should have won that fight. He failed to be a professional, failed to properly prepare for the environment, and it cost him.

As for the manner in which he lost, I think getting caught with a big shot is better than being thoroughly out-boxed or pummeled for 12 rounds. If you are out-boxed, it means the opponent was without a doubt better than you on that night. In that regard, other great fighters have worse loses on their record than does Lewis. The various losses of Holyfiled or Klitschko, Ali's loss to Spinks, Tyson's loss to Douglas are some examples.

Then he should have been considered at the same level as Louis or Ali... but he lost these two fights, so he simply isnt at the same level, its clear

In the Cus/Rooney years Tyson was always well prepared.

Now you're talking about the difference between an ATG fighter and an ATG career.
As a fighter Lewis would be in the All-Time Top 3, as a career he would be somewhere towards the middle of the All-Time Top 10 and I wouldn't hold it against you if you put him #1 All-Time H2H.

I don't think it hurts him at all. He avenged both losses, so he really has beaten every opponent he's faced. Those losses were learning experiences for him which resulted in him becoming a much better fighter (and picking up a much better trainer).

dont follow your logic - why is lewis below Holyfield? Holyfield lost a lot more than lewis - to worse oppentents that lewis, shamfully duck lewis for years before finally fighting him and getting soundly beaten - only to be saved by one of the most high profile robberys of recent times. and then lost the rematch to lewis.
