I'm not so sure to be honest. Maybe before 1994-1995, when he was a rookie. But not at his peak.

Even guys like Ray Mercer, Golota, Morrison, Briggs, Grant, Botha, Tua, were all pretty hype up, serious contenders at the time.

Even his really poor fights - Akinwande, Marovic - your talking guys with 32-0 records

Guys like David Tua would have been serious world champions in this era

You nailed the difference. I think Vitali's losses mean less - how can a loss due to an injury mean more than getting KTFO'd? Yes, Lewis avenged his, but Vitali had no possibility to do it (not to mention it was Lewis not giving him one them;))

The only thing Vitali could have done better is hanging in there vs Byrd despite the injury (I heard he said it himself). Byrd is not a huge puncher and I think Vitali would win a decision finishing with one hand.

Ps: This could be a good poll question (whose losses mean more?). I have little doubts if the majority would admit the truth though.

Really poor argument. The only guy Lewis didn't fight in his entire era, was Bowe, and that's because he refused to face him. And he only fought Tyson so late, as Iron Mike wouldn't box him in the mid 1990s.

He was heavily ducked. One of the most ducked ever.

Lewis faced about 10-15 serious top 5 contenders in a row. Vitali's faced about 3 in his career.

As for rematching Klitschko, he was 39 at the time of the first fight, and semi retired. He was barely boxing. And he still won.

The fact that Vitali wanted cheap revenge, against a 40 year old opponent is his own problem.

When you get a shot against a guy who's 39, and tells you before the fight that this is his last fight, probably, it's your own fault if you get knocked out

    It's not really important.

Lewis went on from his losses, to do much bigger things, by constantly chasing the best, and biggest fights.

Vitali won't even fight outside of Germany.

    That's the main thing

I love Vitali way more than Wlad. Vitali still wanted to keep on fighting against Lewis. Saying Lewis didn't want to give Vitali a rematch is wrong period. He didn't have to give Vitali a rematch. This wasn't a bad decision. This was a tko loss.

Vitali is chasing the best all of his career. The fact that for a longer while there is no one very good to chase is not his fault.

Plus Lewis ducked Vitali. True he was past prime but Slightly past prime cause he is a late bloomer. 37-38 in case of heavyweight like him is slightly past prime, not even close to being washed up. He was afraid to loose. Period.

That is true. but where is that level of competition right now or in the past few years to face Vitali. Is that Vitali's fault? :deal
