Look, a big genie in the skies. Out of the kindness of his heart, he would like to grant you three wishes involving the current Boxing climate. The rules are that no wish can determine the result of a fight or perform the impossible (i.e bring back Marvin Hagler). Are we all clear? Make your wishes. 1. Bring back 15 rounders. Time to separate the men from the boys. 2. Marco Antonio Barrera to retire before things get out of control. 3. Roy Jones to make a full time return to HBO commentating.
1. One belt in each weight class. 2. Bob Arum to leave boxing. 3. Mayweather and Pacquiao to step in the ring together (some may class this as performing the impossible...oh well).
1. Only 1 title per division. 2. Boxers more active. 3. Some sort of organised and steadfast ranking and matchmaking system that is not subjective and that although can be wrong will level out over time because everyone is fighting everyone.
I expect to see this one a lot. I was going to include it but decided to wish for a return of 15 rounders again.
1) Fewer weight classes 2) Fewer belts, actually, 1 champion per weight class 3) Fighters aren't allowed to choose who they fight, matchmaking is done by an impartial entity using a good ranking system which forces fighters to fight fighters of their calibers. That would be it. Boxing would then be great... This, btw, fixes the Floyd Chicken Mayweather coward **** and forces him to fight Pac. If a fighter refuses to fight, ok, no problem, say, a two and a half year ban should be good enough motivation. And then after the ban, he still has to fight whoever the organization decides. Have a nice vacation!
I wish I had more ambition now that you guys have come out with some wonderful suggestions. One belt per-weight class is a must, and I would like to see a matchmaking system implemented.
1. One governing body to order fights and therefore only one belt 2. Judges banned for bull**** scorecards 3. Boxing back on free TV in USA and UK
1. Bob Arum to **** off. 2. Don King to **** off. 3. Gary Shaw to **** off. Damn it! Can telling promoters to **** off be used as some kind of combo wish?
Great choice. They investigate terrible scorecards sometimes, but then don't actually ban anyone. If they aren't competent, they have no business being a Boxing Judge.
1. 1 tile per division 2. Boxing back on terrestrial television ( I mean the big ****in fights back on it) 3. More mainstream coverage across the board.
